"Engaging story of how a young French boy befriends an abused dog"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This film has a lot going for it. It tells the story of how a six year old orphaned French boy befriends an abused dog let loose in the French alps. The film is set during WW2 and shows how French villagers dealt with the German occupation, including helping Jewish refugees escape across the alps to Switzerland. The alpine scenery is superb, the acting terrific (by animals as well as humans) and the story moving and believable.

"Just love this movie. So many layers to unfold."
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Saw this film at the cinema and just fell in love with it. This response was not sentimental because the film is multi-layered.The depth of the relationship between boy and dog is compelling. Then so is the background of the war and the absolute bravery of the people to assist the Jewish people to escape over the mountain.Hope I have not revealed too much but I suggest all people of all ages should see this film. I have now purchased my own copy.
