"Almost perfect release with one glaring flaw"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This release has really fantastic audio & video quality but the only thing preventing it from 5 stars is the info screens half way through each episode haven't been translated so you'll never know that info when watching this release. Some of the scenes have been changed slightly and redrawn for a much improved viewing experience though.

"Great"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

The animation team did a wonderful job fixing up mistakes that were present in the original television release; the action scenes, particularly those involving 3DMG, look fantastic, especially in the higher definition. The missing translations on the info screens, and other graphics within the show, however, are a bit disappointing. These were great universe enrichment that's been needlessly lost. Otherwise, this is a decent release in terms of VA talent, audio, and visual quality.

Note: As an aside, I would also recommend watching both the dub and sub available as the English script includes a lot of unnecessary changes i.e to voice overs, location and military branch names. It may not seem big but it does alter characterisation in many places, and in Collection 2, becomes even more awkward and jarring with sudden retcon ongoing in just one episode.

"Nothing is explained"
1 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I don't know why my friends says this is a good anime, it trys to wow us with fear and blood, and battling action, while nothing is explained in the end, the plot is stupid, and I hate when there is mystery to hook us onto the plot, but at the end nothing is explained.

Description

Please note: this is not a combo pack and only the Blu-ray format is included with this collection.

Attack on Titan Season 1 Special Edition Blu-ray compiles 13 episodes of the towering new hit anime series. Based on the Japanese manga series of the same name, written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama.

Many years ago, the last remnants of humanity were forced to retreat behind the towering walls of a fortified city to escape the massive, man-eating Titans that roamed the land outside their fortress. Only the heroic members of the Scouting Legion dared to stray beyond the safety of the walls, but even those brave warriors seldom returned alive. Those within the city clung to the illusion of a peaceful existence until the day that dream was shattered, and their slim chance at survival was reduced to one horrifying choice: kill – or be devoured!

Attack on Titan Anime Reviews
“The world it creates is not only imaginative but also chock-full of mysteries. Moreover, the series goes to great pains to explore the implications of this compelling world. So, if you like steam punk, dark fantasy, or want a series filled with real life-or-death stakes for the characters, then be sure to give Attack on Titan a try.” Kotaku

“What I adore about this show is its ability to blend action, drama, suspense and comedy in such a balanced manner. I can't stop raving about this show to everyone I know.” IGN

“With a rather biting edge, a truly foreign world and remarkable visuals, ATTACK ON TITAN is an undeniable gem that has the potential to reach far beyond the purview of normal anime fans.” NihonReview

“A dark, gritty emotional roller coaster.” News-Register
