Description

Russell Crowe stars as Robin Longstride in director Ridley Scott's big-budget twist on the celebrated legend.

When soldier Robin happens upon the dying Robert of Loxley, he promises to return the man's sword to his family in Nottingham. There, he assumes Robert's identity; romances his widow, Marion (Cate Blanchett); and draws the ire of the town's sheriff (Matthew Macfayden) and King John's henchman, Godfrey (Mark Strong).

4 stars "Wonderful gritty adaptation"

Ridley Scott has once again teamed with Russell Crowe to bring a classic story to life in a gritty reincarnation. This interpretation of the Robin Hood story stays true to the historical record of life after King Richards crusades. The directors cut builds on the cinema release and for those who felt bemused by the story line of the forest children in the cinema release all will now make sense when you watch it as ridley scott would want. Great story line, brilliant directing and a quality twist on a story most of us are familiar with.

Thanks to the power of blu-ray this is a much better option to the dvd with both the theatrical and directors cut on the one disk.

4 stars "Ridley Scott and Crowe on target."

You get what you pay for. A good swashbuckling hero movie, a twist on the classic legend with a typically strong performance from Crowe and the somewhat reluctant, hero, Longstride.

Well shot and good fun, Ridly Scott knows how to do a decent historical epic.

5 stars "They do not come much better than this"

Fascinating, captivating and beautiful, if not pretty, to watch. Crowe and Blanchett are sublime. Delivered far more than I anticipated.
