Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men is, in a word, astonishing. Whedon's trademark dialogue is in full force, making for a smart, witty read which makes 600 or so pages fly by. The plot is set on an epic scale which is too good to fit into a review this size. And the illustrations are fantastic.
The book itself is good too. The pages are glossy and good quality and aren't too fragile and the borders and placement of the illustrations mean that you don't lose any of the images in the divide in the middle of the book. It's around about A4 size and pretty thick and heavy so holding it up while reading will get tiring quickly.
Definitely worth buying. One of the best X-Men comics ever.
