Description

Love, blood, betrayal and revenge - the stakes are higher than ever in the fourth book in the bestselling Mortal Instruments sequence

Simon Lewis is having some trouble adjusting to his new life as a vampire, especially now that he hardly sees his best friend Clary, who is caught up in training to be a Shadowhunter - and spending time with her new boyfriend, Jace. Simon decides he needs a break and heads out of the city - only to discover that sinister events are following him. Realizing that the war they thought they'd won might not yet be over, Simon has to call on his Shadowhunter friends to save the day - if they can put their own splintering relationships on hold long enough to rise to the challenge.

"Simon has always been one of my favourite characters to write about, and I’m excited to get the chance to tell his story while revisiting some of the other characters that I love from The Mortal Instruments series." - Cassandra Clare on City of Fallen Angels.

Reviews for series

"The Mortal Instruments series is a story world I want to live in" Stephenie Meyer, author of 'Twilight'.

"Funny, dark and sexy … Cassie's writing makes my toes curl with envy." Holly Black, author of "The Spiderwick Chronicles".

"Like “Twilight,” vampires and werewolves populate The Mortal Instruments’s fantasy world, but the trilogy - which wraps up with the March 24 release of “City of Glass” - is chiefly concerned with more heavenly matters: the nephilim, humans with angel blood in their veins. The series follows 15-year-old Brooklyn girl Clary Fray’s whirlwind introduction to the world of Shadowhunters, nephilim warriors who protect oblivious humans from dangers presented by vamps, werewolves and other kinds of baddies. If you thought that human Bella and vampire Edward’s relationship was fraught with issues, imagine how much more traumatic it is for Clary to find out that the guy she’s in love with might just be…"-The New York Post

5 stars "Brilliant"

This 4th installment of The Mortal Instruments is absolutely brilliant! We get to see how all the characters have grown. I love how Cassandra focused more on Simon this time around – how he's coping with his new powers and situation. BUT there's enough Jace & Clary in between to keep the fans happy. The ending was unexpected which is great cause now I cannot wait for the 5th book. The wait will be quite agonizing tho!

5 stars "Fantastic YA fantasy"

One of my friends loaned me the first book in this series and after that I was hooked. Went out and bought the others.

I enjoyed getting inside Simon's head a bit more as I really like his character. Also the introduction of new characters, links to the prequel series and the development of different relationships had me hooked.

The last few pages had me holding my breath and it will be a tough wait for the next book to be released.

5 stars "AWESOME!! as always"

Amazing book! Cassandra Clare is a genius!

The story takes you a few months after the characters return from Idoris. With the book being more focused on Simons point of view but with enough detail into Jace and Clary's growing relationship! the story line is growing with the characters with some discretely not so innocent scenes, guaranteeing to keep you enchanted for the whole book. Cannot wait until the next book!

5 stars "AMAZING"

Had been waiting for this book a long time and was not disappointed. The book tells the story of each character and i liked how the focus was more on Simon this time. Cannot wait for the next book, just wish it wasn't a whole year away.

5 stars "Another Great Addition to the Series"

I love Cassandra Clare's books, and this book was no exception. The series is so fast-paced that you don't want to put the book down! I love the humour and well developed characters too. This series is a MUST read.
