Teach Your Children About Money

Teach Your Children About Money is a workbook for use by parents and guardians to develop in their children, (age 12 and up) fundamental skills related to saving money, managing money, and acquiring wealth. The easy to use workbook is designed for use one hour a week for 12 weeks. Each week's lesson is approximately two pages and covers a different topic designed to provide a framework for interaction on important subjects such as goals, charity, credit, investments, etc. The twelve weeks not only establish a routine that hopefully will become a tradition, but provides a source for interaction between parent and child throughout the week. Each topic includes suggested exercises to do during the week. Times have changed and adults are going to be responsible for their financial future. This workbook can help children prepare for this responsibility.

First of all, I learned a lot about money and how valuable it is to people. Second, I learned how to write a check. Last but not least I learned lots and lots of new words. . . . It will teach you the responsibility of money. It will show you how to control your money and not spend every dime you get.

Estella Loar was a busy working single mom not successfully managing her financial affairs and did not want to pass her bad habits on to her son. She had seen a family sitting around their dinner table talking about money and decided she would spend one hour a week talking to her son about saving money, managing money and creating wealth. That experience was the motivation for creating Teach Your Children About Money. Her son, Alan is a senior at Kent State University majoring in Marketing. He has recently purchased his first house.
