Author Biography

Dr Pierre Dukan has been a medical doctor specializing in nutrition since 1973. The author of many works on nutrition, he regularly writes in the press and appears on television.

5 stars "The only diet that allows to eat as much as you like!"

I found this book really helpful to help me to understand why other diets have not worked for me before. Apart from outlining the diet, it provides a thorough explanation of each stage along with creating realisitic expectations.

2 stars "Not sure about this one"

Purchased this book after reading a good review about it in the NZ herald.. I only wanted to lose about 4–5kg as not really overweight to begin with and it seemed like a good concept in the review. I read the book from front to back, which takes a long long time!!! Then decided to try it out. I did the initial phase fro 5 days as recommended and for once I did not cheat in the slightest, I stuck to the plan completely. Heres the thing, the plan its self isn't that hard to stick to like diets usually are, how ever, I only lost 1kg in the whole 5 days! Other people seem to have lost a lot more than that according to the book and website. Maybe it just doesn't work for my body– I wouldn't say don't buy it, just beware that it may not work for you.

5 stars "This does work"

Ok, I have only been doing this for 1 week now (and I did fall off the wagon for a buffet lunch). But it is easier to do than I though it would be. I have tried pretty much every diet and usually struggle to keep the motivation going after 3 days. After completing the first week/stage I have lost 3kgs and I'm not struggling with motivation. The only downfalls I have found is that you spend more at the supermarket and it is hard if you are going out when on stage 1. But stage 2 sounds easier.

"Very good "

It depends what kind diet you are looking for. This is easy if you can take protein.
Interesting reading.
