This title is first in the ground-breaking “Hunger Games” trilogy. Set in a dark vision of the near future, a terrifying reality TV show is taking place. Twelve boys and twelve girls are forced to appear in a live event called The Hunger Games. There is only one rule: kill or be killed. When sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen steps forward to take her younger sister's place in the games, she sees it as a death sentence. But Katniss has been close to death before. For her, survival is second nature.
The Hunger Games written by Suzanne Collins is fiction in the young adult genre but I highly recommend it for all ages. Its combination of suspense, action, love and an overall gripping plot kept me up into the early hours of the morning. I found myself unable to put it down.
The Hunger Games is a fantastic book and would highly recommend it to any one
Great book for young readers, I really enjoyed this book, I couldn't stop reading once I started.
Usually im not one to read books but this and the others are really hard to put down I love it
Hunger games is a great book to start the trilogy. The pace is good, the characters are engaging and it is full of suspense. I read the whole book in a day because the thrilling storyline makes it difficult to find a good place to stop and put the book down. Full of tragedy and just the sprinkling of romance, I even shed a few tears at one point. I like that the author didn't just have Katniss fall in love straight away, drawing it out and making her unaware or uncertain of her own feelings made the development in the romance more natural and for me more likeable. I thought all the kissing for the cameras was a bit cheesy, but all in all I loved this book and I'm sure I shall read it again at some point. This book appeals to more than it's target audience, it is young adult but I can honestly say that as an adult I found it a very good read.
