From the makers of Midsomer Murders comes a first rate television drama. Set in spring and summer 1940, World War II has just begun and England looks all but doomed in the face of an inevitable German invasion. Still, someone has to fight crime on the home front and who better than Christopher Foyle-
Michael Kitchen stars as the charismatic detective in this drama series of mysteries. The quietly enigmatic Foyle would much rather serve his country in the armed forces, but his superiors deem him indispensible for combating the heightened anarchy along England's south coast, where the German army is expected any day. Uncertainty, espionage, bombs and internment are the new facts of life for Foyle and those around him- yet sometimes they merge with an old enemy of England – murder!
Special Features:
Deluxe box set with unique drawer packaging
Solve the case! – 22 ‘case files’ with episode specific clues
Each DVD presented as a “case” from the police dept and in a filing drawer. This is a real space saver. Styled in what I would think is WW2 vintage. Great to be able to watcht he case sequentially.
We enjoyed this very much and watched them all through. A great series with lots of interest
I have only watched 5 instalments so far – but I am really impressed – the stories are quite realistic and the actors are superb – this series really depicts England as it was during the war – I can say this because I was there as a child.
What a wonderful series, great presentation, the story lines are great well worth twice the price
