5 stars "A high quality series, great selection of projects."

I'll admit, I'm a bit of a sucker for these types of shows – documentaries about massive, amazing construction projects. I expected this DVD to be great, and the BBC did not disappoint.

The stories are not told in traditional documentary style, instead, actors, sets and special effects are used to re-enact the seven historical construction projects based on true records, diaries and scrapbooks kept by the actual people involved. A lot of thought and detail has been put into each story, and it seems that almost no expense was spared in making a quality series. You really become immersed in the story, and each show feels more like a short film rather than a documentary, and I've thoroughly enjoyed them all.

5 stars "Very Interesting."

This is one of the most enjoyable documentary series I have ever watched. Each wonder is explored via its own recreated story, and don’t worry, you don’t need to know anything about engineering to enjoy this documentary. Fascinating and compelling viewing for any history fan.

5 stars "Excellent production by the BBC"

This DVD set is excellently produced by the BBC, and one of the most interesting docudramas I have ever seen. Great for kids to learn a bit about history too.

4 stars "A fascinating insight into the some great engineering."

These seven documentaries brilliantly illustrate some of the great engineering triumphs of the 19th and 20th centuries. There is no attempt to hide the problems that arose in these constructions, and that lends great authenticity.
