On December 17th, Kyon's life was abnormal: he spent his free time with an alien robot (Yuki), a time traveler (Mikuru), and an ESPer (Koizumi), trying to keep a headstrong classmate (the eponymous Haruhi) entertained so that she wouldn't unintentionally destroy the world. On December 18th, Kyon's life becomes…normal. Haruhi has disappeared as if she never attended their high school. Yuki is now a shy bookworm, Mikuru has lost all memory of Kyon, Koizumi is nowhere to be found, and only Kyon can see that things have changed. Now he has to decide whether he'll fix it or not.
Being a big fan of the first season, I was largely expecting a lighthearted
funny movie.
But this movie takes a far more serious tone than the series and benefits from
it.
It even gives the abominable “Endless Eight” a reason to exist.
This movie is not as much about Haruhi as it is about Yuki Nagato and what she
goes through.
Prior to watching this movie, I would suggest watching the two seasons of
“The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya” as the movie does make continual
references to things, having not watched the series, you would not understand,
the movie would simply not have the same impact.
This is an amazing movie which should be viewed by all Anime and Haruhi
fans alike!
This is based on my favourite anime series ever and the movie based on the fourth book won't disappoint. Very dramatic and sensational!
