Bruce Brown decided to follow two surfers around the world in search of a perfect wave. With a 16mm camera and a budget of
only US $50,000, he captured the essence, the adventure and the art of surfing. The resulting film became the most popular surf film of all time. Brown was the original guerrilla filmmaker who went on to create a stunning body of work, including the Academy nominated 1970 film On Any Sunday, a documentary on motorcycles featuring Brown’s friend, actor Steve McQueen.
