“The Help” features three very different, extraordinary women in Mississippi during the 1960s, who build an unlikely friendship around a secret writing project that breaks societal rules and puts them all at risk.
From their improbable alliance a remarkable sisterhood emerges, instilling all of them with the courage to transcend the lines that define them, and the realization that sometimes those lines are made to be crossed even if it means bringing everyone in town face-to-face with the changing times. “The Help” is a provocative and inspiring look at what happens when a southern town's unspoken code of rules and behavior is shattered by three courageous women who strike up an unlikely friendship.
I have watched this movie twice and really it enjoyed it.
Well done and an eyeopener even though you knew how most of the help were treated by their employers.
I thought this movie was great I rented it out 3 times then thought to my self wouldnt it be cheaper to buy it on dvd so I did I highly reccomend this to anyone its heartbreaking, funny and just goes to show what people went through back in the 60's so my advice to you is to get it
No where near as good as the book. I found the movie too slow which was a shame as the book kept my interest so much easier. Great actors though, and if you are not a book reader it might be worth a try, as it shows a small snippet of American Southern life that not many of us would know much about. Another example of the incidiousness of racism, and the strong and selfless few who were prepared to do anything to speak out against it.
I watched this after I had read the book and the book is way better but in saying that the movie isn't too bad.
