The Raid 2 is a 2014 Indonesian martial arts crime action film written and
directed by Gareth Evans, packaged on DVD.
He thought it was over. After fighting his way out of a building filled with
gangsters and madmen – a fight that left the bodies of police and gangsters
alike piled in the halls – rookie Jakarta cop Rama thought it was done and he
could resume a normal life. He couldn't have been more wrong. Formidable though
they may have been, Rama's opponents in that fateful building were nothing more
than small fish swimming in a pond much larger than he ever dreamed possible.
And his triumph over the small fry has attracted the attention of the predators
farther up the food chain. His family at risk, Rama has only one choice to
protect his infant son and wife: He must go undercover to enter the criminal
underworld himself and climb through the hierarchy of competing forces until it
leads him to the corrupt politicians and police pulling the strings at the top
of the heap. And so Rama begins a new odyssey of violence, a journey that will
force him to set aside his own life and history and take on a new identity as
the violent offender “Yuda.” In prison he must gain the confidence of
Uco – the son of a prominent gang kingpin – to join the gang himself,
laying his own life on the line in a desperate all-or-nothing gambit to bring
the whole rotten enterprise to an end.

The Raid 2 Movie Reviews
“Every jobbing action movie director in Hollywood should immediately
throw in the towel and concede defeat. A new bar has been set…
A hyper-stylish, widescreen study of corruption, criminality and close family
bonds that threaten to implode at every treacherous turn… A bloody ballet
that will prove too gory for some, but hypnotic to fans of high-intensity
action… Features one of the most complex and downright thrilling car chases
ever committed to film, a work of such skill that it will literally leave your
jaw dropped like a sideshow clown awaiting a ping-pong ball down the gullet…
Cult glory is assured… it deserves a place among any landmark action film that
has pushed the genre forward since its inception… Bigger, bloodier and
better… action aficionados are set to be gobsmacked.” James
Jennings, Empire
“One of the great sequels in recent history… The action sequences are
simply unreal; bigger, faster, and more lethal than in The Raid… the film
looks incredible.” Examiner
“A carefully crafted martial arts extravaganza… endlessly
inventive… there is beauty in its brutality” The Telegraph UK
“Bigger and bloddier… a sprawling epic… polished filmmaking…
truly audacious action choreography… the most invigorating action movie I've
seen in years” The Verge
“A spectacular crescendo of ultraviolence… Good luck finding a
modern martial-arts epic that can even hold a candle to it.” Film.com
“The Raid 2 makes most American action films look like the over-edited
stunt-doubled CGI-laden child's play that they are.” The Playlist
