Death is not an option.
Torchwood returns for a fourth series in which the team face their greatest
test yet to find out how and why has the whole world mysteriously become
immortal. Torchwood is back and more explosive, sexy and thrilling than ever!
One day, nobody dies. All across the world, nobody dies. And then the next day,
and the next, and the next, people keep aging – they get hurt and sick –
but they never die. The result: a population boom, overnight.
With all the extra people, resources are finite. It’s said that in four
month’s time, the human race will cease to be viable. But this can’t be a
natural event – someone’s got to be behind it. It’s a race against time
as C.I.A. agent Rex Matheson investigates a global conspiracy. The answers lie
within an old, secret British institute. As Rex keeps asking “What is
Torchwood?”, he’s
drawn into a world of adventure, and a threat to change what it means to be
human, forever.
While it requires minimal knowledge of the prior seasons, you do get more out of Miracle Day if you know the story behind the main characters and how they got there. But it does work just as well as an introduction to anyone new to Torchwood.
The 10 episode season is absolutely brilliant – Bill Pullman is one of the most interesting and engrossing bad guys of all time, John Barrowman is as always amazing and all of the acting is top notch.
The premise is very clever and satisfying, dealing with all the ethical complications that arise well and creating an interesting character study for how people would react to there being no death.
All in all a fantastic series and well worth a buy :)
Being a torchwood fan I was always going to love this. Not lacking in shock factor from the first scene and had a few surprises that I didnt expect. Captain Jack fearless and cocky as usual, but with a vulnerability that we have not seen before. As for Gwen, I am not sure she can ever really walk away from adventure, even though poor Rhys would like a quiet life and a cup of tea! Loved it, loved it, loved it and recommend for any Dr Who or Torchwood fan!! If your not a fan- … Where have you been! =)
