Deadman Wonderland is the best anime I've seen in a long time and is a must see for any anime thriller fan. The story sounds simple enough on the surface – young boy framed for a murderous rampage ends up in a, literally, ‘kill or be killed’ prison where every day is a struggle to survive while trying to find the person responsible for landing him in this mess – but it's much, much, more than that. There are several layers to the plot and while the characters develope well almost everyone has something to hide. The graphics are superb and the music sets the mood perfectly. There are buckets of blood in Deadman's Wonderland, in fact, weapons are made from blood and death means little in this mad house. So if you're at all squeemish this anime isn't for you. All in all, Deadman's Wonderland is violent ride full of surprises and, surprisingly, charm.
