In many ways this is typical Dr Who – lots of action, clever plot, and great acting. But unlike other stories the Doctor is not the happy go lucky/jovial yet tortured but resigned Last of the Time Lords, and we see a glimpse of the ‘dark side’ of the Doctor. A great story if you are a follower of Dr Who – but probably watch some other stuff first, to give this side of the character some context.
