Description

The warships of the World War II era German Navy are among the most popular subjects in naval history with many books devoted to the subject. However, for a concise but authoritative summary of the design history and careers of the major surface ships, it is difficult to beat the six volumes in the Warships of the Kriegsmarine series. Now in paperback for the first time, this sixth volume in the series is devoted to the six ships from Emden to Nuremberg that were built between the wars. Primarily intended for commerce-raiding, the war gave them few opportunities for such employment, although they did provide useful support for key naval operations in the Baltic and North Sea.

Author Biography:

Gerhard Koop served in both the Kriegesmarine and the postwar Bundesmarine, and became one of German's leading authorities on warship design and the author of numerous highly regarded books. Klaus-Peter Schmolke was well-known for the detail and accuracy of his technical drawings.
