Description

From 'Cinderella' to 'Rumpelstiltskin', the stories gathered by the Brothers Grimm have enchanted children and adults for centuries. This attractive gift edition, with a charming foil-stamped cover, brings together more than 40 of their most-loved fairy tales, all accompanied by the magical illustrations of Arthur Rackham, perhaps the finest interpreter of their work.

Author Biography

Jacob Grimm (1785-1863) and Wilhelm Grimm (1786-1859) were brothers who spent most of their professional lives transcribing and compiling German folktales from the oral tradition. The publication of their volume Children's and Household Tales in 1812 served as the foundation for most collections of fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm for the next two centuries. Arthur Rackham (1867-1939) was a prolific British artist who illustrated numerous books including Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Aesop's Fables, A Christmas Carol, The Wind in the Willows, and Edgar Allan Poe's Tales of Mystery and Imagination.
