5 stars "How zombie apocalypses should be."

Cool story and very well animated. Though its an anime it all seems so real. Totally re-watchable.

4 stars "Good but not Excellent"

I've been reading the manga as well as watching the anime for awhile due to my interest in all things zombie. Overall it is extremely well done with superb animation, a good dose of gore, good semi-original storyline and interesting (although stereotypical) characters; but it does have two main downfalls.

The main one which has stopped many people (but at the same time encouraging others to watch it) is the ‘fan service’ that this anime has. Normally a little bit of fan service is okay but H.O.T.D takes it to a whole new level, not an episode goes by without an up-skirt shot or seeing the female characters underwear.

The second and last downfall is the stereotypical characters and relations. You got the broken couple trying to get back together, the seemingly strong character who is scarred by their past, the carefree and sexy nurse and the annoying know-it-all.

However despite these downfalls the anime is still in my personal Top 10 at #3 and I'm still waiting for season 2 to be announced after watching this for the first time in 2011. If you want more after watching the anime I highly recommend you read the manga as it goes a bit further.

5 stars "Bloody Awesome"

A really great anime, fulled with blood, violence… and zombies!
A very ecchi style of anime but really well animated and one of those animes that you can watch over again.
Would totally recommend to anyone who like action , anime… or zombies
