Let me just begin this review by saying that I LOOOVE Doom Rock, Doom Metal, Stoner Metal etc. If you are into these genres of music, I would highly recomend this album. Whereas House Of Capricorn's previous album (Sign Of The Cloven Hoof) was more towards the sludgy end of the music spectrum, and sounded a bit like fellow New Zealanders, Beastwars, this album has cranked up the DOOM to 11! This album still plays along at a spritely rate (most of the time) but there is a sense of sorrow and filth pervading every song now. It feels like HoC have finally started taking themselves seriously. The other difference with this album is there are a few tracks that have no stoner or sludge to them at all, pondering along like classic doom bands and lasting a good 10 + minutes. Overall, this is a great step forward for the band, especially the lead vocalist (Marko Pavlovic) whose vocals have a much wider range and higher quality to them, reminding the listener of Type O Negative's Pette Steele. I would greatly reccomend this album to anyone who has taken the time to read this whole review!
