Description

A large-format, stunningly illustrated book, celebrating 32 of the country's most inspirational gardens. Kristin Lammerting travelled the length of New Zealand with photographer Ferdinand von Luckner to explore the gardens and talk to the garden owners about the source of their inspiration. The styles of the gardens selected are very diverse, from opulent landscaping in a traditional style to cutting-edge minimalism. Just as varied as the styles is the stunning diversity of plants on display. Most of the gardens - including Kristin's own award-winning Palmco Garden in Kerikeri - are open to the public.

Author Biography

Dr Kristin Lammerting established Cologne's famous 'English Style Garden' and is a regular contributor to gardening magazines. This is her fourth book on gardening. She and her husband own Palmco palm nursery and garden at Kerikeri (Supreme Award winner at the Ellerslie International Flower Show 2007). She lives in Germany and visits NZ around four times a year. Photographer Count Ferdinand von Luckner spent a year in Africa after finishing school and went on to study photography and film design at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences, graduating with a degree in photographic design. He subsequently spent three years as an assistant to Wulf Brackrock in Hamburg, before striking out on his own to work on a freelance basis for a variety of European garden and interior design periodicals.
