For decades the DJ has been the pioneer of the dancefloor and is deemed as pop music’s true revolutionary. So with this in mind Ministry of Sound has decided to bring you an album that takes you on a chronological journey through some of the most seminal club records of all time.
Last Night A DJ Saved My Life is an epic 3CD collection starting from the late 70s disco era and moving all the way through to the modern day resurgence of House. We have handpicked 60 soul dance grooves that have shaped the career of some of the most recognised artists.
First comes a groove in the shape of Donna Summer followed by Chic, Chaka Khan and a Marvin Gaye anthem, sampled in Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’, that still to this day packs dancefloors across the globe. We then move into the House that Jack built, an undeniably defining moment for dance music introducing the likes of the producer/DJ movement with tracks from Frankie Knuckles, David Morales and Masters At Work. Here you can find some of the most credible anthems of the era alongside the artists who took this sound truly into the mainstream with Rosie Gaines, Crystal Waters and Ce Ce Peniston. We round things up with a mix of classic dancefloor anthems from modern day superstar DJs including Armand Van Helden and Basement Jaxx moving right up to the present with huge #1 hits straight from the MoS camp including Duke Dumont and Storm Queen.
40 years of iconic club records, this is Last Night A DJ Saved My Life.
