Veteran guitarist David Kilgour and his band The Heavy Eights (Taane Tokona on drums, Tony de Raad on guitar and keyboards, and Thomas Bell on bass and keyboards) release their first album as a group in four years.
Left by Soft comes on the heels of The Clean's excellent 2009 outing, Mister Pop
The album was recorded in an old lodge surrounded in the Catlins - two hours south of David’s home Dunedin.
The 11 tracks here are heavenly, with elegantly chiming chords and beautifully drifting solos, all presented with Kilgour's sparkling pop sensibilities.
Left By Soft is the soundtrack to Sam Hunts film Purple Balloon.
