"This is a humble game that needs a hug and our support."

This is not a review rather an impression regarding playing the game for a day or so. Little King Story contains no motion controls, no use of the pointer, no online, no mulitplayer, no mini-games, no highscores, no cars, no guns, and no bouncing boobs. These are not faults and seem to reflect the confidence placed with the content, story and design of the piece, perhaps the biggest fault of this game will be it will not be seen by many people, it will be dismissed by those who see the awkward and forgettable title, perhaps the 7+ age rating will drop a few more out, the cartoon assemblage of Japanese and western will exclude and confuse many tastes, the lack of Mario in the title and any advertising will drop it from the shelves after one week and this is a symptom of Nintendo's daunting AAA title dominance.

Little King Story manages to entangle aspects of Pikmin (control, battle system, subsequent guilt of landscape acquisition and character death), Harvest Moon (creation of buildings, managment of resources, NPC character emotions such as hate, desire, love), Animal Crossing (day/night duration, absurd and delightful character design) Chibi-Robo (superb subtly in writing and timing). This is a sophisticated game and its exceptional designers know how to slowly reveal the game to you, it never adds pointless fetch quests or grinding as a way of padding out the game length, simply playing and exploring is rewarded by its wonderfully curious and cliche free scenery. This is a game that will be scarce and attract high prices on eBay over time, it will be lovingly discussed by game critics and unsuccessfully mimicked by designers for many years, if you give Little King's Story one chance it will hook you in with its humble and understated introduction.

But that's just my opinion after a day.

"Cute and twee, then it hooks into you like a kitten"

Purchased on Mighty Ape

After reading rave reviews about Little Kings Story I purchased a copy with low expectations, given that rave reviews tend to be the most disappointing games.

Starting the game was straightforward with good use of both the nunchuck and the wiimote buttons being used to full capacity. Good tutorials throughout the game reveal how much more you need to learn and makes gameplay far more intuitive.

Using the Z control allows for easier gameplay, as does using the + buttons to reorganise your party. Once a battle commences, recalling your minions is extremely easy, with next to no lag time before minions retreat.

This will be a game that can keep on being played for a long time to come.

"Harvest moon + Overlord"
4 stars"

This game concept is rather simple, you are a king and you will need to clean up your land, invade neighbors, order your people to do their jobs etc. the idea is similar to harvest moon except the combat part which is the same as overlord (you don't actually do anything yourself, and can only everyone to attack / retreat)

The only thing I don't like about this game is how they use nunchuck to control direction, this can be rather difficult especially during combat scene since you need to aim at moving boss before ordering your troops to attack (otherwise they will just run around bouching like mindless drone)
