"Not bad like every one makes it out to be!!!!"
5 stars"

The first time I watched this, I did not like it very much at all. I didnt find their to be much happening in terms of plot in the movie, so I got bored quickly.

However, soon after first watching it, I really wanted to see it again. At my second viewing I absolutely looooved it! Sofia makes her films so stunning to look at! The costumes and set designs are beautiful. And as I paid better attention to the movie, it turned out to be quite a laugh, such as Marie's husband and his fascination with keys (so wierd!) and Kirstens Dunst's expressions at the ridiculousness of her new life at Versailles.

The acting is top notch, and I thought it was cast perfectly. Also the pop/rock soundtrack makes it a lot of fun to watch. The movie really explores Marie Antoinettes day to day life, some of which Sofia would have imagined it as. On that note, it is not 100% accurate in terms of facts, as it was not intended for people hoping to learn some history of Marie Antoinette. So do not go into this movie expecting a historical drama film, you will be disapointed.

Instead this movie portrays Marie as a kind of celebrity teenager of her time, wild parties, a lot of shopping and sweets! Yet you do really sympathise with her at points, and the responsibilities she was forced to have, such as leaving her country for a foreign one, and the pressure to produce a son.

So dont be put off by those people who call this movie “bad”, just give it a try! And then afterwards check out Sofia's other movie she directed including “The Virgin Suicides” with Kirsten Dunst as well. It is equally gorgeous, if not more.

"Beautifully presented, hard to follow for first timer's."

Sofia Coppola shows us a sympathetic view of the ill fated Queen of France in this contemporary and youthful retelling of her young extravagant life. From her early marriage to Louis XVI at 14 to her reign as Queen at 18 and the beginning of the French Revolution and ultimately the fall of Versailles.

Those of you who are not familiar with the story of Marie Antoinette or ultimately the French Revolution may find it hard to follow or rather pointless to watch as there is hardly any dialogue or explanation of the reason or cause. Or, to be fair, what she even had to do with it. Unmentioned in the film are her later incarceration, trial and execution.

I was pleasantly surprised at Kirsten Dunst's performance as Marie Antoinette as I wasn't expecting much from her at all. She does a fine job of portraying a youthful and fun spirited Marie in her years of decadence and luxury.

Beautiful and fun insight into the early life of Marie Antoinette as a young Queen, Mother, Party Girl and Socialite! A personal favourite.

Oscar-winning Sofia Coppola brings to the screen an imaginative interpretation of the life of France’s legendary teenage queen, Marie Antoinette.

When betrothed to King Louis XVI (Jason Schwartzman), the naïve Marie Antoinette (Kirsten Dunst) enters the opulent French court, which is steeped in conspiracy and scandal.
