"Approach with caution."

Being a Gothic fan from way back, this game was easily at the top of my most stoked about list, right under New Vegas. But I checked out some forums and there's a lot of talk about the demo. It seems to be putting people off the game. I've read complaints that it's way too easy, that you're rewarded too lavishly in terms of loot and items, that there are technical issues like poor lip syncing and poor dialog in general.

It's possible the demo changed certain aspects to give players a feeling of what the full game offers, and may not be a true snap shot of the finished game. One can only hope.

I've also heard that it holds little resemblance to previous Gothic titles and is more a less a hack n slash CRPG.

This is all really, really bad news because I loved the previous Gothic games and have been looking forward to it for years. But I've cancelled my preorder and decided to wait until it's released and there are some reviews out. If it turns out the above mentioned issues haven't been dealt with I'll have to wait until it goes bargain bin.

So if you're planning to get this game I suggest you do some research, either wait until it's released and read some reviews or check out some forums or play the demo.

4 stars "Good Game"

There are a lack of monsters in game, a predictable storyline.
The graphics are good, its a fun game to play if you have extra time.

3 stars "Bit of Fun and a Time Filler"

Not a great game but who could complain at that sale price. Would have liked to have seen more choice of armour and weapons. Graphics quite nice. Think Gothic 3 was better but it has been more than adequate as a time filler to take my mind off the days dragging on until Skyrim's release. Roll on 11/11/11!

4 stars "Good Story and Gameplay"

Arcania has a creative leveling system which helps to develop your character into a real individual, the story is great and the graphics are fairly good too.
But as a previous review has said, download the demo to see if it is your style of gameplay.
Before purchase also check THOROUGHLY to see if your computer reaches the requirements, minimum of the requirements does meet a fair amount of latency in game.
Apart from that, it really is wonderful and so easy to pass time on.
