After the nightmare that is Blizzard's version of Steam, waiting several
hours and dozens of connection attempts, we eventually got the game validated
and were able to play it. This was short lived as the server failed during the
night and was not up again for sometime.
There's a lesson here,: Do not buy Blizzard games to use on the release day.
Once running the game went fine with no noticeable glitches except the
occasional server outage. Graphics were nice with mood lighting and depth of
field effects not previously used creating an almost 3D look. The sound tract
was good using some of the earlier sounds that made the original game
special.
In general the game followed a similar line to the Diablo 2 story but with the
welcome return of characters from the original diablo.
If you like full on bashing action then this is a great game and it will keep
you going for hours. The only sour note has to be the lack of the unique
atmosphere that made the original Diablo so enveloping. It starts of good but
I feel the designers got a bit carried away with the special effects with most
of the characters emitting a multitude of bright glowing colours making the
combat scenes looking like one almighty mess. Generally a good game but not what
I hoped for.
