This series is hands down the best RPG game/series ever created. Diablo 1 and 2 have been around for years are are still played online by millions of players.
Diablo 3 looks even better and wont let you down, even if you have played the first 2 or not this will be a game you remember forever.
Highly recommend The Collectors edition (if still available) is phenomenal, loving the Skull with USB, and the game itself is much better than I had initially anticipated what with all the new features its even better than Diablo 2, however I'm keen for expansions to bring back some of the old characters from D2 like the Necromancer and Paladin.
Blizzard cares about your game working for you the first time with the least
amount of bugs possible.
What would you rather have? A late game or one that doesn't work because
I tell you. You guys will be the first to write on the forum don't buy this
game its crap…it doesn't even work. Sacred 2 is a fine example of
rushed…its buggy the patches usually don't even install properly. And by the
time you figure out how to make it work…you look like a hairless ape with a
dumbfounded look on your face. Aren't you getting sick of company's releasing
games that don't even work properly on launch, they just figure they will fix it
later and leave you crashing to desktop thinking it's your pc or in some cases
freezing you system Cough cough (Sacred2).
I say Blizzard take your time…cause once it's out it will be a gem!
Blizzard was kind enough to let me play the beta this weekend, and I have played several hours having achieved level 11 on my Barbarian.
The controls feel really tight, typical Blizzard really. I bound cleave to hotkey 1, and you can run around by holding down the hotkey and the Barbarian will follow the mouse cursor and attack when he is in range, really cool. What's really nice is you don't have mana this time around, even as a spellcaster. Barbarian has abilities like cleave which generate fury, and other abilities like the hammer which consume. The wizard has a regenerating mana pool. It just feels like a better system to me.
If it wasn't for the online component, particularly the auction house, I'd say that this game could be released TODAY, because the only bug, although a very serious bug, that I found so far was in the auction house.
I encountered no technical issues whatsoever, the game ran fine. I truly believe, that we may see this game released early february, based on current build!
Diablo 1: The 3 prime evils are already trapped in soulstones, but they are imperfect prisons. Diablo manipulates various people, creates the Skeleton King Leoric and takes up residence under Tristram. Our hero kills him and jams Diablo's soulstone into his forehead to trap him within himself (either as an act of sacrifice or insanity).
Diablo 2: Our hero is now The Wanderer and sets about finding and freeing the other 2 prime evils; Mephesto and Baal. A new hero arises and kills Diablo and Mephesto. Baal escapes and seeks the world stone in the hopes of corrupting it. The world stone limits the power of humans (being decended from angels and daemons means humans have the potential to surpass both), stops either side from waging full war on Sanctuary (both physically and via influence). With it corrupted humanity would side with the hells almost by default. Our new hero kills Baal, but fails to stop the corruption. Tyrial destroys the stone and leaves everyone wondering wtf happens next for 10 years.
Diablo 3: 20 years after D2. Most people who experienced the previous events
are either dead or regarded as madmen (or are indeed are actually mad) so no one
really takes the stories seriously. Somehow the plot hole of the entire populace
of Kurast being either displaced or killed goes largely unnoticed.
Anyway… A ‘star’ falls from the sky and happens to hit whats left of the
old cathedral Diablo lived under back in D1. This reawakens the dead and the
Skeleton King (why- I have no idea). After defeating the king, but not (yet)
finding the star the beta ends and MAJOR PLOT TWIST
So far the only confirmed evils are the ones not killed in previous games
(they're gathering power before invading Sanctuary or some such).
Enter ANOTHER new hero. While in the past games you had abilities despite the
worldstone's existence, this time you have abilities because it's been
destroyed (waaa-). There are also hints that either you get to choose to side
with heaven or hell, or that the story forces you in one direction (most likely
heaven).
A great game with a lot of new content. The only issue I have is the badly implemented patch system Blizzard as come up with which means not being able to play the game for 20+ hours at a time and full servers.
loving this game and thanks to the good people of mighty ape I was able to enjoy on the day it was release onto the earth, the game is amazing, everything I love about number 2 and a whole load more. Loving the classes, the combat, the graphics, the skills.
Game play is what I expected, mindless fun to be had by most.
The last difficulty level (Inferno) is a whole different kettle of fish. All the
previous difficulty settings you could find the gear you needed to progress as
you were happily slaying monsters. However in Inferno that pretty much ends
right there. The gear you find is not going to do it, so you have a choice of
farming gold for days on end, hopefully getting the odd good drop that you can
sell. Do this for a while to buy the gear you need. A lot of people make the
game an Auction House simulator type game, they gear themselves up by monitoring
the auction house for days and buying low and selling high. This is by far the
most efficient way to make gold. Well, other than using the real money auction
house, where you spend you real life currency on digital in game items.
It is extremely unlikely progress through the finally difficulty setting without
buying your gear, and unless you get extremely lucky with a drop that is worth a
lot to sell it will take a major amount of farming of gold (or spending real
money) to complete the game.
Some got lucky at first and managed to bash their way through the game before
the nerfs hit, so you will hear varied opinions about all this.
Overall, this is a Trade based game, you got to enjoy the buying and selling of
items. Have a look at the class forums, instead of builds and tactics and other
useful discussions you will see 90% are Want To Sell (some bit of gear).
So to sum up, fun game play until you get to the final difficulty level, then it
all changes and then it becomes a merchant simulator that requires days and days
of farming to get gold. Then play the auction house game so you can afford to
buy a bit of an upgrade so you can farm faster.
To me the game is a 5/5 until you hit Inferno, then it becomes a 0/5. I will be
generous and average that out to a 3/5 for old time's sake.
Gives you some mindless fun times, reliving the old Diablo Days! Nothing ground breaking but still a fun game. The always have to be online is not a feature I like but can live with.
Nothing new here, it's just the same old Diablo rinse and repeat as the last
two games. Same gameplay, same garbage storyline, same cheesy voice acting, same
gameplay-on-rails action and same boring cant-get-lost maps. Even the same
graphical engine with the same little ‘idiosyncracies’ (glitches).
The target market seems to be undiscerning pre-teens with a lot of time on their
hands. It's basically Titan Quest without the Greek mythology.
This game aims to be Angband with a graphics engine, but it is a long way off target. Ho hum.
I loved diablo, and diablo ll. This was a bit of a let down. Not letting you reach max till you have played through the same levels, same game 4 times in a row.. Yes the levels may have more mobs on them. But you are doing the same thing. I played through twice before losing interest. Even with the real money trading house.
Its alright if you are easily amused. However it consumes alot of time for the low level of enjoyment you get in return from it.
Despite taking ages to download this game is very addictive and me and my partner enjoy it. It was worth waiting all these years for it!
well first off it was a c**t to install, it would say invalid blahblah cant install. I did everything correctly but I had to download diablo else where and install it that way, the game is ok but I think I'd rather play Diablo II then III
This game is Blizzard's biggest failure. DO NOT BUY.
I've played every PC Blizzard title since Warcraft 1. All of them have been enjoyable except for this piece of crap.
Story = bad
Gameplay = bad
Graphics = dated but acceptable
Future design direction = bad
Their online player base has dropped by 90%+ from 20,000+ public games to about 1,500.
This is Blizzard's Daikatana.
As a fan who has been playing all of Blizzard's games since Starcraft 1 (except recent WoW expansions following Wrath of the Lich King) this game has been much disappintment comapred to how much I was expecting out of the game.
Quality wise, the game is excellent – the graphics look neat, and the gameplay is simple and fun. However, this game doesn't work out very well for casual gamers once they hit infernal difficulty.
Diablo 2 was a game you can play with your friends without needing to have fixed roles for everyone. But the insane numbers in inferno difficulty creates some problem – you often run into situations such as monsters like Guardians from Act 2 who shoot missiles at you before you can see them and killing you instantly or monsters such as Nagas that have ability to negate damage while they get into melee range killing you in one hit.
In the end the game forces you into the traditional MMO roles of tank/dps/healer where melee classes stack health and defense to soak up the damage for ranged classes – except there is no healer, and ultimately doesn't work out to be very fun when your whole party is wiping over and over again.
Me and my friends farmed over and over until we realized the only real viable way to progress through inferno for casual players seem to be to farm lots of gold and then spend them on Auction house so that you can buy items from more hardcore players or players who were fortunate with their loots.
It is one thing to provide challenge – but to make the game difficult enough that you can't progress without having to rely on auction house isn't exactly a fun game.
Me and my friends were looking for a fresh break from the recent flood of MMOs – we had been hardcore WoW players – but this has been a huge disappointment for us.
Received my copy early this morning, and I've spent the last five hours going around in circles trying to get this game to install. I've tried everything bar reinstalling windows (not practical to try, and no guarantee of working) and no luck, this piece of DRM-locked crap is headed for the rubbish bin. Blizzard is absolutely no help, and I curse the day their piece of crap company was created.
Game is well put together, stunning graphics and a must have. Only downside I can find is the requirement for constant clicking and lack of a Druid class, but guess there is always the expansion to look forward to =)
Awesome game. As per usual. Diablo kicks some serious a$$. Highly recommended to all RPG players..
I was fortunate enough to be given a guest pass by a friend so the only outlay I have made for this game is 10 GB of download and updates. Looks nice enough but even on my quad system i had issues playing the cinematics – very jerky playback. I agree with another review further down that made some comment about rainbow coloured WoW. The requirement to be online to play even the singleplayer is distasteful. If I'm going to pony up for the game I would want to be able to play offline. I have no intention of ever playing it online. It certainly isnt a quantum leap forward, but I suspect the fanboys will like it regardless of its issues. I am 95% certain I wont be buying it until it hits the bargain bin.
A lot of fun to play, its one of the only games I have played twice! not overly difficult which is a plus!
Easily meets my expectations. Thankfully I don't seem to be affected by the lag issues that others are having.
Few games have been as anticipated as Diablo 3, and over the years Blizzard has gained an excellent rep for delivering games that are outstanding in every way. Diablo 3 is no exception, but for one major, and for many players fatal, flaw. This game requires players to remain connected at all times to the server if they are to play, including single player. You may, like me, be one of the lucky ones who can freely play this awesome game whenever you like, barring of course the server-down-for-maintenance times that seem to occur every other night. But thousands of players, who have otherwise excellent internet connections, are nonetheless frequently dropped from the server as often as every ten minutes, making it almost impossible for them to progress through the game. Hopefully in time Blizzard may address these issues, but for now they deny that there is any problem with their D3 server. Shame on you Blizzard, you may have just destroyed your previously untarnished rep.
Customer relationship excellent, Diablo 111
Superb.
Only reason I did not give this an excellent is that the game was over to quick. The beginning round was reasonably easy to finish. Nightmare is a better difficulty. Love the game though, story is a bit obvious, but monsters are great, cut scenes are awesome. Well done Blizzard.
Recycling the Diablo plots, but less clicky than D2. I still like it very much.
Very addictive the first time through but not quite the replayability factor of past diablo games…it could be that I have come to expect more…
Diablo 3 feels similar to past Diablo games, but also feels very new too. I have been playing is consistently since release and am still thoroughly enjoying it. Combat and hunting for loot is very addictive. Playing with friends is a so easily accessible.
However it does have it's short comings. The Auction House is embarrassing in the state its in, especially with all the bugs and lack of decent UI. Lag can be a huge issue for Aussie/NZ players so playing Hardcore mode is not recommended.
To anyone who wants to have a challenge and/or find another game to play with friends this is definitely worth your time and money.
Not as challenging as Diablo II – LOD.
Blizzard have done a great job on this game. If you enjoyed Diablo 2 then you will enjoy this.
Mighty Ape served well with their courier service, they were prompt and professional, and good with prices – always have been.
Well done Blizzard… you have taken the great parts of Diablo one and two and made improvements (such as, character development and changes without having to re-roll a new character)
The story thus far has been awesome as well, I am deep into Act 3 and am really enjoying it, and you can bulk the story out even more if you take your time and listen to all the NPCs etc and their “extra” conversations give the story more depth.
Addition of crafters is great as it means you can actually have good gear in all slots instead of running around with one “let down” piece.
Overall a great game, good story and was worth the wait. Thanks Blizzard!
This game is great even though it has taken ages to come out it is worth the wait I recommend it to everyone.
An excellent game.I never played D1 or D2 so I had no preconceptions when I bought this.I bought it because my buddies did it is fun playing together.I hears there were launch issues but I missed them as i bought 3 weeks after release and the game has run fine. Its a nice change from the usual fps and mmos we seem to have at the moment.
game very short, excellent gameplay and visuals, can get boring quickly if you continue to replay game on higher difficulty lvls, only incentive to do so to get better gear and hit lvl 60 cap i guess.
Eleven-ish years ago Blizzard made a little known game called Diablo 2… errr, actually this is the third instalment of the Diablo series and one of the biggest game launches of 2012. And it's very very good. But you probably know this because you bought it already. If not and you like fast action rpg games with plenty of loot collecting – basically if you liked Diablo 2 – then this is your game. Blizzard seem to have fixed most of the launch issues and now actually playing is a breeze, and playing with friends is a lot of fun. Just remember to turn on Advanced tooltips in the game options.
You know when you wake up and realize you had no sleep.
You know those moments where you start to lift your hand and lift your index finger furiously in a clicking like fashion at someone you don't like.
You drink your coffee like its a health potion.
When a patient passes away in your hospital and you yell “oh why didn't you have enough health regen!!”.
When you start to think of rehabiliation as a means of leveling up.
When you see your supervisor as yellow mob.
That is when you love this game why too much and you suffer because of such a great game........
Better than expected, weel worth the long wait.
Its been a long time in the making and they have done a fantastic job of keeping the feel of the original game. The cut scenes are a step above any CGI I've seen
Hav waitting for this for 10 years, it's worth the wait however when
I first got the game couldn't load in because of the time differents then the
bug…delay another 4 hours or so.
Other then the it's a great game.
Every level u play is got somthing new to it. Like stronger items and better
items love it!!
One of the great games. Falsely highly under rated by many. Ever since the server troubles have cleared since launch day, the game has been nothing but top notch.
So if you have played any of the Diablo series, this is a definite must get!
Fast delivery and cheap price!
Very disappointing. Has be dumbed down for the masses and made colourful for children, I will celebrate the day blizzard NORTH reunites to create another game. Not this wow like rainbow bollocks.
First it didn't want to install kept coming up with “The Fire from the sky
still falls” error but found on forums that I wasn't the only one. The
solution to this error is here https://us.battle.net/…79449-page=5
Then after playing for one hour the US server just turned off so I couldn't
play anymore so I have to change server to the EURO. Then I could finaly play
after 6 hours stuffing around. Wow Blizzard get your shit out you've had many
years to work on this. Not a good look.
As mentioned in the title would love to review the game but there is massive
issues with even trying to install it. I am currently dealing with Blizzard
support and are still unable to even install the game. I am not the only one
who has been having these problems as there are alot of posts on the Blizzard
forums regarding several problems with the game. These range from installing the
game to graphic issues and server problems. Having the game online only is a
massive mistake. I fully understand the future is all about online gaming but
you dont aways have access to an internet connection, plus with the massive
ammounts of lag being reported and the severs being shut down on a regular basis
you wont even be able to play the game when you wont too. Having these kind of
problems on a game that has been so long in production is extremely poor and
I am not impressed.I have been looking forward to this game for a long time
and if I wasn't such huge Diablo fan I would have giving this game a miss.
Even if I get this game going in the future with no offline playablity it will
never get over 1 star.
Have not had the connection issues that people are takling about, but the story line is poor, graphics are realy bad, not worth the wait.
Played the beta. Loved it! Loved the changes they made to Diablo 3! The game is a lot more fun than Diablo 2! Played the beta a couple of weeks ago! The changes they made to the beta also made it more fun! 1 week and 2 days more! Too long…
Having played the Beta with all classes I am pretty impressed with Diablo 3. My only reservation is the recent tinkering Blizzard have done which has taken out some of the features I personally liked such as the item which let you recycle weapons/armour into crafting materials while on the go and the scroll which summoned a pet to automatically pick up gold. But still I believe Blizzard will release a typically polished if not innovative game with plenty of replay value. The rune system should add some welcome complexity and diversity to the combat system.
Im gonna spend my money on something that isn't delayed for the 100th time…
I don't know if I can take another extension to the release date! Please get this game to us b4 were all to senile to play it!
If it lives up to what I have seen in the Beta, this is going to be awesome – and yes we're allowed to comment on what we see in the Beta. Enough like DII (with the expansion) to keep everyone happy, with enough new stuff to keep you entertained.
No thanks Blizzard, I will wait for Grim Dawn.
And after some thought about how much I wanted to play it, cause its an online game, I decided I HAD to. Im loving it, although I get kicked out after about 2 hours of game play. Not so good. But at least it means im not sitting on the computer alllll nite :]
I think we've all been waiting for too long for this game to have reasonable
expectations. Promise after promise, followed by delay after delay have slowly
built hype, and no game can live up to it.
Quite simply, Blizzard cannot please people anymore. It's been too long to
simply release another Diablo, but if they make ANY changes, EVERYONE will
complain.;
If you can't wait, pick up Torchlight. It's pretty much Diablo 2.8
This game is the modern version of ‘Duke Nukem: Forever’ it never comes out and is constantly in development… By the time it comes out (if ever) the graphics will be outdated anyway and there are better games out there already that quite resemble Diablo 3 screenshots, namely ‘Torchlight’ which is also made by the people who made the first Diablo and who are going to release a sequel soon, it shouldn't take years to make a game, the time these guys are taking in making D3 is just silly and stupid.
I have been looking forward to this game for ages! From what I have seen this game is going to be a awesome like no other. I just hope that by the time it comes out my computer will still be able to run it!
Blizzard is renowned for being fiscally intelligent, and won't release this game before they run out of updates on World of Warcraft, thus forcing WoW players to convert to Diablo III. That said it's first release will be highly polished, they add bugs in the updates.
Diablo III seems to be shaping up well according to the online community tracking its development.
I spent hours upon hours playing Diablo on Playstation (so much so that I can remember having to bandage my fingers because of the blisters!).
Diablo II offered the character expansions that were required, and the subsequent add-on's kept the game going and increasing in positive ways.
Diablo III is highly anticipated, and i CAN NOT WAIT for its official release date to be published!
This game looks fantastic!
Basically diablo 2 but with alot of improvement, the biggest feature of this game will be multiplayer. Expect to be waiting a while for it though, It is a rarity for blizzard to stick to there release dates. CANT WAIT!
Well i own myself Diablo II and this was a huge hit in the back days. And
Diablo 2 is Still very active in the Multiplayer region. As it is a Very well
and fun made game. Hopefully Diablo 3 will give the same theme and great game
time out of it.
Diablo series have been made from the company Blizzard which is one of the most
popular game making company e.g World of Warcraft and Starcraft..
So without a doubt i am Sure this game will be a huge success and cant wait
till i can play this on Battle.net (Multiplayer)
Diablo III attempts to blend the best of the two previous games, while adding a fresh spin to them and throwing new ideas into the mix to create something that at once feels different, but comfortably familiar. It's like returning home from years abroad to find your mum has shacked up with the Italian shop keeper and learnt to cook Mediterranean food – it's still Mum's cooking, but with that new, garlicky edge.
