Description

Nine months ago, Point Man and his F.E.A.R. squad were tapped to stop a telepathically gifted cannibal who had begun a murderous rampage. Point Man learned the target was his brother, Paxton Fettel, working alongside their tortured and psychically powerful mother, Alma Wade. Despite this revelation, Point Man followed orders to destroy them and subsequently ravaged the surrounding city and most of his F.E.A.R. team.

Now, it is clear that Alma's psychic influence survived- and worse, she is about to birth something that could destroy the world. Fettel has returned from death with an unclear agenda, refusing to leave Point Man's side and asking for help to reach Alma. The remaining F.E.A.R. squad is still trying to complete their mission. With his chain of command broken and Point Man calling his own shots, where will his allegiance lie-

Features:
  • Divergent Co-op: Deep, social gameplay that gives players distinctly different abilities.
  • Frenetic Combat: 360 degree cover, evolutionary slow-mo modes, phasing portal systems and best in class mech combat.
  • Experience the Almaverse: New sinister enemy creatures birthed in Alma's warped mind spill into reality
  • Generative Scare: Increases the feeling of isolation and unpredictability by offering new experiences each time.
  • Masters of Horror: Legendary director John Carpenter and writer Steve Niles provide their expertise on cinematics and story.

4 stars "A good shooter and a worthy sequel"

Although it doesn't add too much to the story line, FEAR 3 is a great shooter that is very fun and challenging in some parts. Enemy AI is smart enough to keep you interested without frustrating you, weapons have been redsigned and are very fun to use.

Co-op play is a great addition and i highly recommend it. Single player is still very entertaining, playing through the game as Point Man and then as Fettel is a very nice contrast, so the game has some replay value

The biggest fault in the game is that it isn't scary, which is something that i loved about FEAR 1 and had mixed feelings on in FEAR 2. The scariest parts of this game is getting swarmed by a gauntlet of monsters, which if you are good at shooters, is more annoying than scary.

FEAR 3 is a very good entry in the series and i hope that if there is a sequel, it is made in a similar style to FEAR 3 but with scares similar to FEAR 1.

4 stars "Not bad"

Pros: New enemies, fun map to venture through

Cons: Fewer weapons to choose from, not scary compared to Fear 1, Fear 2.

3 stars "The worst FEAR..."

Day 1 Studios have pretty much killed the franchise. The plot makes next to sense, the new “Active Cover” system is horrible and awkward, and when adding two characters, they forgot to balance them.

The game only remotely shines when playing as Paxton Fettel because he gets to use things other than guns. A meager 8 levels long ranging from 15–40 minutes each, it doesn't have much staying power or replay value.

Multiplayer is the only redeeming feature in this mess of a game. Sorry to say, but I don't think a FEAR 4 should be on the cards.

5 stars "Cool"

More of the same. Apart from the weapon level up thing. May not be as scarey because we know what to expect but if you liked the other FEARS, you'll like this. One to keep for me.
