Flight Simulator X is the culmination of nearly 25 years of the landmark Flight Simulator franchise and its most significant addition to date. The 10th addition to the highly successful Flight Simulator franchise, Flight Simulator X will immerse players in a beautifully rich and realistic world, offering a completely new and innovative gaming experience with dozens of new aircraft to choose from, including the AirCreation 582SL Ultralight and Maule M7-260C Orion with wheels and skis. Features:

  • Immersive world. Flight Simulator X offers players a rich and innovative gaming experience with new technological advancements, incredible graphics and added realism including weather, time of day and seasons. Pilots can watch moving cars and detailed buildings in cities below; traffic on highways; indigenous houses, farmland and livestock; and wildlife in its natural habitats.
  • Mission-based gameplay. With the addition of new mission-based gameplay, players will have a specific purpose as their world comes alive for the first time with automobile traffic, moving boats and ships, and animal life. With more than 50 new missions to choose from, aviators can build their skill levels and engage in even more stimulating gameplay than before. Players can choose to compete in the Red Bull Air Race or bring relief materiel to the Congo, keeping track of their progress on each mission.
  • New aircraft. Flight Simulator X will enable pilots to fly the aircraft of their dreams, from the DeHavilland DHC-2 Beaver floatplane and Grumman G-21A Goose to the AirCreation 582SL Ultralight and Maule M7-260C Orion with wheels and skis. Players will be amazed at the details — such as shaded rivets, reflective paint, and glint from glass and chrome — as they view the world from 100 feet to 1 million feet.
  • Connected world. Through increased online gameplay capabilities, Flight Simulator X offers players a connected world where they can choose whom they want to be, from air-traffic controller to pilot or co-pilot, as they interact with other aviators from around the globe by chatting in real time via headset and keyboard.

4 stars "Love at first flight"

Ah, the humble yet majestic Flight Sim series from microsoft has released a new member to the prestigious family line, enter MS Flight Sim X DELUXE ED:

If you are ever pondering as to whether getting this or the “Standard” edition is better, just hear me out first. According to the Box, the deluxe edition offers

  • More high detail cities and airports in some of the most spectacular places
  • Structured missions to test your skills
  • Enhanced multiplayer features like sharing aircraft and live tower control
  • More planes including the maule
  • M7–260C Super rocket w/Wheels & Skis
  • Introducing the Garmin1000 Glass Cockpit

While I only just got this game for Xmas, I have had a play with it and I can say that the Multiplayer aspect is AWESOME!!! Especially the enhanced features such as being an ATC or sharing aircraft. The Garmin1000 Glass cockpit is a definite plus, being easier to work with than the old dials and knobs as seen on the rest of the aircraft.

My only problem is the Graphics – We all knew that this game would tax alot of systems but the lag I get when flying over auckland is kinda fustrating – and the detail is set to low. ( I have a WinFast PX7950GT and an AMD 3200+ CPU as well as 1024mb DDR400)

Besides this, this is an excellent title and belongs solely in your CD drive – don't take it out.

P.S. Joystick is a nessesity – the game is 500% better with one.
P.P.S Have a play with the Sail plane – lots of fun to be had :)

5 stars "Thrill without the danger"

Definitely worth buying! This gives hours and hours of fun! I know quite a few pilots and all of them were very excited about how similar this is to real life.

For me, the best thing is to learn about flying aircrafts without risking my life…

The game ran perfectly fine on my computer even with all the settings set to “ultra high”. It might take a minute or so to start up when I set everything to ultra high, but after that, everything ran very smoothly.

My computer specs aren't exactly top-notch: Processor – Intel Dual Core 6600 with 2GB ram.

Definitely recommend buying the right gears though. I bought “Saitek X52 Pro Flight Control System” and “Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals”, wanting to get “Saitek Pro Flight Yoke System”.

"Very doubtful."

As requested I advise that I have spent time trying the program on my fairly new HP dektop PC, using the mouse and keyboard. As recommended in the pamphlet I chose Missions, Tutorial 1 – First Take-off. I chose Normal speed. The microlite took off I'll say. It rocketed up like a fighter jet on steroids! While the “instructor' was telling me to ease the nose up gently after I reach 36 mph my altitude was rapidly reaching 5000 ft. At that altitude it started to stall, enabling me to gain control, and I was able to maintain a straight course and constant altitude. I tried to make a gentle left turn but then all the controls failed and I just went round and round at a constant altitude. On a later try I found that the controls F3 and F4 don't work and the plane smashed when I crashed it. The "instructor” said, ‘nice landing’ ! He said the same when I later made some appalling landings, but that is understandable as I didn't break the plane. I could go on …
I am reluctant to blame the program because on closer inspection the second-hand disk appears to have been abused before I got it, as evidenced by scratches. John Wood.

3 stars "Good"

If you're looking for a flight simulator game then this is it. But if you get bored pretty fast then this game might not be for you. This game is just flying planes and helicopters and nothing else, which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what you want. The part in the game where you do missions is pretty good but if you are just on the part where you choose whatever plane and destination you want then it can get boring after a while.

1 stars "So slow!"

Purchased this game after raving reviews, but regretted this decision the first time I installed the program. I was only getting around 5FPS maximum, which is virtually unplayable.
In the end, I switched back to FS2004, where I can get 25FPS on BEST settings. This makes it much better than wasting my $120 on FSX.
