"Always must be connected to the internet"

Just wanted to let everyone know that this game requires an internet connection at all times, even for solo play :)

1 stars "Not too happy with EA"

Hi all.
First of all, I would like to thank Mighty Ape again for their excellent service and communication. You guys rock!

Unfortunately, I am now on hour 2 after installing the game and still NOTHING!
It first took about 30 minutes to be able to select the Oceanic server.
Now it just won't log in. “Login is closed at this time” (could just as well be – Please choose a different time to play your single player game. Now is not convenient for us)

I have always liked SimCity. But the game has always been something of a time-waster game for me. I loved playing it when I felt a bit bored or had a few hours to kill. It is nothing like a MMORPG where you are willing to wait 20 minutes to enter a queue to play.

If this keeps on happening, the game is going into the bin.
Not happy at all!!!

Maybe later I will up the rating, but initial feelings!!! Nah!

1 stars "It could be a great game - if I could actually play it."

I was looking forward to this, as Sim City has always been a great way to lose several hours without even noticing. First sign of it not being what I expected was when it installed Origin, and not the game itself. It turns out I cannot play a game I have bought and paid for unless I am connected to their servers. And I cannot stay connected to any of the servers long enough to do more than place a single road – if I can even get that far. And it is not my internet connection at fault, either.

I realise that it is day one. Traffic will probably get more manageable. But I honestly can't think of any reason why I need to be online to play. Why can I not have the option of a single player game, unconnected to anything- All this hassle for the opportunity to play ‘socially’. If I wanted to socialise, I would not be shutting myself in my room to play computer games.

4 stars "Three Problems"

While this game seems to be very enjoyable there are still three major problems.

#1: Business Model.
This is EA we're dealing with, they will try to milk you for all your money in micro transactions.

#2: Always Online.
People with poor internet connections or who want to play offline will be disappointed.

#3: City Size.
The reason your city can have it's unique feel ( mentioned in the description ) is because it's too small to fit everything. You have to pick one area to specialize in and that's what your city will revolve around.
You can however create more cities afterward and they may be on the same map as well and that would allow you to build everything, but it isn't all in the same city and there will be awkward blank areas in between the cities.

If have no problem with missing out on content due to micro transactions ( EA has cut content from games in the past for Day One DLC ) or throwing your money at them, have a stable internet connection and don't mind not being able to have a massive city then you'll love this game.
It is not a bad game, just be warned that it may not be exactly what you expect.

"Avoid Until EA fixes their servers"

The game is currently unplayable due to overwhelming numbers of people trying to connect to EA's servers. Its a pity that a person trying to have a single player experience is unable to.
