4 stars "Great"

Forget the reviews this game gets. This is accually a fun game, with great graphics.

It is more like an Arcade game, than a hunting simulation, but don't let that put you off, it's good fun.

5 stars "A spectacular hunting game..."

After playing countless FPS games I decided to try out a hunting game for a change even though I was apprehensive of the idea.

Nevertheless, I was happily proved right in my decision to buy this game. Never had I played a hunting game before so this was something new. The game itself is linear in some aspects as you have a map to stick to but on some occasions you can use the environments fully – climbing onto higher ledges for a greater shooting position along with the surrounding flora.

The variety of environments and animals is fantastic ranging from Finland, USA to the savannah's of Africa. Many big game are here such as Water Buffalo, Bighorn Sheep, a Bear, various birds such as Egyptian Geese and Ptarmigans. Unlike Cabela's Outdoor Adventures, this game lacks the fishing aspect of it but then again, it is a hunting game so I don't see the point. Trophies are great and not hard to achieve either but acquiring all Gold medals on hunts may prove a challenge for some.

I recommend this game to any FPS players, hunting enthusiasts or a gamer who is interests but isn't sure on the purchase. I was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed the fun experience. 9/10.

5 stars "get one todae"

Cabela's big game hunting keeps you moving from one moment to the next, not unlike modern first-person shooters and their systems of successive checkpoints. Checkpoints are used here, too, so if you botch a shot and a particular target gets away, you can rewind things and go for it again from the last automatic save point you passed. It's a faster, more fun take on traditional video game hunting, and as a core concept the idea of moving from one critical moment to the next, one after another, works well.

4 stars "Good Hunting Fun"

Great game with a lot of replay value. Stack up points from hunts to level up your character, unlocking new weapons and locations around the world, including New Zealand. Take part in mini games and hunt animals such as bears and a mountain lion. Hours of fun.

Description

Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2010 is played from a first-person perspective featuring a combination of mission play and mini-games that make up the already mentioned hunting trials. Players are guided through structured mission play by their in-game sponsor who contacts them, points them in the right direction and offers tips and warnings in the field as the hunt makes its way across the globe. In each hunt players are graded on a variety of skills ranging from safe navigation across dangerous wilderness terrain, animal tracking, and their abilities at stalking from cover and making clean, efficient kills. Players track game and find their way around the environment using "Hunter's Sense," a type of bullet time in which evidence of animals, varied available cover options to shoot from, specific animal locations and their level of alertness can be seen in a temporarily, slowed down view with on-screen color-coated indicators revealing each. More rapid player movement, including sprint functionality, is available in regular view. Once an animal is sighted in the players weapon scope varying possible point totals are visible on the animal according to where it might be hit with a projectile. These include strikes to the heart, spine, lung and head. During hunts players can quickly and easily change weapons at the push of a button as the trophy animal persuaded requires. In-game weapons range from a variety of rifles, pistols, bows and more which can be unlocked as the game progresses. The ability to correctly use all graded skills gains the player points and medals for each animal players are tasked to bag.
