Dark Sector really is a fun game to play. It has everything an adult gamer could want – blood, dismemberment, an intreging story-line, blades and of course monsters (of all sorts). It is a gritty and dark horror game that wont have you scared, yet pressured to fight your way through each battle that comes your way. At times the atmosphere can be a little too much, with a yellow haze/tint added to the game that sometimes can make you feel sick (the same way Doom can make some players feel sick – not because of the violence, but mainly due to the sharp movements and slight screen tint) – but other than those issues Dark Sector is certainly at the top of its game.
It is especially fun using the Sixaxis/DualShock3 motion controller to control the blade – in which you can dismember certain bodyparts of the enemies depending on what takes your fancy. Sure some may find this game a little too violent, yet others who cant get enough of Gears of War, Resistance, or even Condemned (ignoring the FPS elements) will be right at home here. Dark Sector brings most things together well, yet the linear levels, sometimes sickening camera/screen tints and shallow upgrade system bring this game down. Overall however, a recommended title to any horror/thriller fan without question.
Right from the starting intro i knew this was going to be and awesome game.. graphics are great, gameplay is great, and the finishers are a sight to behold :D Story makes you want to play on to find out more.
At times i thought i had walked into STALKER with its buildings and gritty
feeling that something was wrong, very wrong.
Just the whole feeling that Dark Sector gave off was great and added to the
game. In other places i thought i was in Resident Evil with its dark and
gloomy feeling with outnumbering enemys waiting to beat me to a pulp.
Another thing i liked was it was hard, but not too hard.. enough to push you but not to hard to the point where you give up. Controls are not that hard to master but in the heat of battle i tended to stick to the basics..
If you have not played it then i say give it ago you might just like it.
This game is a stunner, in looks and feels it excells. However the gameplay
can get a little a repetitive. The story line is a little dubious and the
visuals a little dark.
But still this game is amazing, the ease with which you can dispatch foes with
your glaive is phenomenal and the focus on this weapon as your main weapon is
rather well done.
Dark Sector; while not being an iconic game in the traditional sense;
certainly holds its own in the playability aspect. The storyline is
well-developed, as well as the premise of the game being logical. the physics
engine of the game runs well, though it does glitch every now and then.
The game is difficult in places, requiring more conscious thought than many
other fight games – it definitely isn't a mere point-and-shoot game. There
are logic puzzles, paths, triggers… you actually have to pay attention while
you play, which is brilliant.
this gajme lives up to the “uncut” billing as nothing is left uncut. As you progress your skills grow and so does your enjoyment of the game. was a bit slow starting and the graphics are a let down in some areas but i found dark sector enjoyable and well worth the bargin price i paid for it!! Thank you again mighty ape.
