Description

Accept the mission and play three great chapters in the Metal Gear franchise with the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. Included are:

  • Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
  • Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
  • Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

All three games are rendered in high-definition for the first time!

MGS 2: Take the role of a one-man army determined to stop a deadly high-tech weapon from falling into the hands of a highly elite resistance group known as Dead Cell. Utilize your skills in stealth, weaponry, and counter-terrorism to fight off the competing powers. Progress through a twisting storyline and eventually face the gigantic war machine, Metal Gear Ray.

MGS 3: In the struggle to achieve world peace and world dominance in the Cold War period, rivaling governments are secretly developing weapons technology that could threaten the future existence of life. Destined to be the first, a race ensues to become the ultimate nation. A special elite tactical soldier is summoned to penetrate deep in the heart of enemy territory and obtain Intel about “Metal Gear”, a prototype weapon with nuclear capabilities. This is your mission and you must infiltrate alone. As “Naked Snake,” you must outsmart enemies with camouflage, close-quarters combat, stalking, interrogating, climbing, hunting and treating injuries in this critical chapter of the Metal Gear saga.

MGS Peace Walker: The era is the 1970s. Big Boss has stationed his “Soldiers without Borders” in Columbia, South America, where he was approached by a visitor from Costa Rica, “a Nation without a Military”. In the wake of the Cuban Missile Crisis, a mysterious armed force seemed to be engaging in suspicious activities. Take control of the famed Naked Snake at a critical junction in modern history. Advanced co-operative techniques allow multiple players to sneak into the fray and accomplish this mission together.

Features:

  • Not emulated, optimized and rebuilt specifically for PS3 and xbox.
  • New user interface created exclusively for HD resolutions
  • Redrawn high-res 2D art, effects and fonts.

5 stars "Finally, awesomeness arrives"

I can't believe this wasn't done sooner! 3 of the greatest playstation games of all time in a single package! Even better MGS3 has been confirmed to be the subsistence version, with the far better camera! MGS3 is probably my favorite game ever, it no doubt has the best storyline out of any game I've played before and considering it is PS2 graphics, it is a visually stunning game. Highly recommended to any fan of the MGS series. I've never actually played peace walker so being able to on my PS3 will be worth the price alone. Not to mention the other two games rendered in HD, especially considering how rare MGS3 subsistence is these days.

However the lack of MGS1 is disappointing. Gonna have to spend $18.90 and download it seperately on the PS-Store if you want it (Which I've already done so meh).

5 stars "EXCELLENT PURCHASE!!!"

Loving this game heaps. Brings back fond memories of being back at school and the days of hiring games from video shops. :)

Three games on one disc, who could complain with that--

Looks great in HD, flow of the game is smooth. Trophy compatibility each holding a platinum of their own. Bonus original Metal Gear Solid 1 & 2 game (came across this is the main menu when playing Snake Eater)

Avid fans of the Metal Gear Solid series should consider…no wait, don't consider, just buy it. :)

5 stars "If you're a Metal Gear fan, how could you not buy this-"

An absolutely amazing trio of games on one HD Blu–Ray… Surprisingly enough, the graphics have actually made a reasonable improvement over their original platforms as well, and with trophy support—what more could you want…-

If you haven't played Metal Gear yet and are thinking about it, stop hesitating and buy this. In my books it's one of the most captivating, moving and artistic series' ever made, Hideo Kojima has created nothing short of a masterpiece and it deserves to be appreciated, again and again.

5 stars "Best value for money"

If you’re a fan of the Metal Gear Solid franchise just stop reading this and buy it now, this is an absolute must have for any true fan of the series.

Having played through the games multiple times, I’ve found the games remain as gripping and engaging as ever. If however you want a more logical reason to buy this, then it’s simply value for money. As well as MGS2, MGS3 and Peace Walker you get a tonne of VR (Virtual Reality) side missions as well as over 130 trophies to earn.

Given that to complete the campaign of any one of these games takes about 10–20 hours on average, watching all cutscenes and codec conversations. Add in completing all the extra missions, unlocking trophies and playing each game multiple times (once is never enough) and you’re looking at over a hundred hours of entertainment. In simple dollar terms that’s less than a dollar for an hour’s entertainment. Given that a trip to the movies these days costs about 10–20 dollars for one to two hours of entertainment, this game is clearly fantastic value for money.

At the end of the day you’re buying a fantastic series and getting three games for the price of one, simply put with this game you can’t lose.
