"One of the best JRPG's this generation"
The review by Edmund is right. While the story is a bit cliche it isn't bad. It actually has some depth to it as you play as the characters when the are kids, then it jumps forward a few hours in so you have a real good understanding of their background and how they all know each other.
But the battle system is where this game really shines. The real time battles are action packed with dozens of different abilities to use. Plus the difficulty can be set as easy or hard as you like and can be adjusted as you play.
I highly recommend this to any RPG fan.
"Did not regret buying this whatsoever"
I havent played the other tales games but if the others are like this one, then I wouldnt mind buying them all. If you think that JRPG's are going south recently, then I recommend giving this game/ series a try before you give up on hope.
"Fantastic and Well rounded Characters"
Having just finished the game, all I can say is what an amazing impression this game has left with me. The characters are all unique with some a bit delusional than others, but they do balance each other out. Character development is well rounded with you starting as a child. Great live action game play; a good mix of basic attacks, specials, counters and ultras. The Story is engrossing and starts from the small town of Lhant to the world itself.

The Tales of Series is one of the other big RPG series that is popular in Japan, and it has it's own following outside of Japan. This is the 12th installment in the main series of games and by being ported to the PS3, it has come with added extras to make the journey longer.
The story of the game is rather simple, where a young lord learns the meaning of responsibility and the power of friendship as he journeys across various kingdoms and uncovering a threat that will effect the world.
While the story is cliche, the battle system is the heart and soul of this game. Everything is in real time, battles will keep you on your toes, and you have over 100 skills to learn for each character. No 2 fights will be the same. Also, you don't have to go at it alone as the game gives you the option to let up to 3 friends control one of the 3 other party members during battle.
If you are looking for a good RPG, especially of the Japanese variety, you can't go wrong with picking this up.
