4 stars "Incredible game... Unfortunately, a bad port on the PS3"

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a momentous achievement for Bethesda. It manages to create a massive living and breathing open world, with an unfathomable amount of content, while staying true to the series, and providing an RPG that anyone can play. The combat is admittedly clunky, but still playable, and is one of the games only general flaws. This review is specifically for the PS3, however, which means there are exclusive problems. Even after three months of being on the store shelves, the dipping frame-rate issues and near game-breaking lag persists after several unsuccessful patches. Bethesda claims to be working on a solution, and here's hoping it comes out soon. If you have an Xbox 360 or PC, buy those versions. However, if you only have a PS3, do not turn away just yet. Skyrim is still playable (I'm clocking in at over 70 hours) and is of such scope that it may be called the best value for money of any game 2011 had to offer. If you can be patient and wait for Bethesda's promised solutions, go ahead and purchase one of the best games of 2011, and indeed of all time.

4 stars "Two words "Visualy Stunning""

Game Play:
This title is a first/third person game, what I mean by that is you can play in either first person mode or third. But for the most part I would say you would be using first-person. The world you are in is open world with free questing, so you can go where ever you want and do what ever you want. The only part that I have found so far that is linier, is the start of the game. But once you get to the first village after character creation you can do what ever.

Leveling:
This is the only sour point to the game that I have found so far, there is only one way to level up in this game and it aint through EXP… Well thats not 100% true. *NOTE: IF YOU WANT TO DISCOVER THE LEVEL PROCESS ON YOUR OWN DON'T READ THE NEXT PART – Here's how the level system seems to work to me. You have quite a few skills that you can learn such as; Smithing, Lockpicking, Pickpocket, Destruction Spells, Restoration Spells, One Handed (this also includes Duel Weld), Heavy Armor etc etc etc, trust me theres a lot of them. Each successful use/attack/block and incomming damage adds points to that skill, as that skill levels you gain points to your character level until you gain a level… So thats level up skills to gain points on your main level. Its an interesting system but if you want to grind on giants, mammoths and dragons to level… Play something else. OK each time you gain a level you are given 1 skill point but before you can use it you need to make a choice “Magika Health Stamina” picking one will increase the bace amount of the choice you made. After you choose you can use or save you skill point. Now before you say “Cool I can level and skill up everything”...... NO! Each skill has a level cap system on it – so lets say your first skill you want to upgrade is One Handed Weapons, the first tier might need that skill to be level 20 before you can add a point to it and the next tier might need say level 40 in that skill before you can add a second point. So in short you need to level your skills to level your character so no EXP sort of.

Crafting:
There are four crafting skills to the game: Smithing, Cooking Alchemy, Enchanting. Of the four cooking is the only one that is not a real skill you can cook but it dosen't help in the leveling process that I could see, you can gather mats for both cooking and alchemy from many sorces throughout the world of Skyrim from animals to bugs. Smithing mats can be found all over the world and in caves and Enchanting is a bit strange you need to get an enchanted items then disasemble it to learn how it works (this distroys the item) then you can use that enchant as many times as you need, other items can be found from looting or from vendors (same for all).

Weapons:
Ranged – Bows
One Hand/Duel Weld – Daggers, Swords, Axes, Maces, Shields, Staffs, Magic
Two Handed – Greatswords, Battleaxes, Warhammers, Magic
(If I missed any “My bad :P”) Yip I know I put magic for both one and two handed thats because you can use magic on either one or two hands and yes you can mix and match you magic so attack in one and heals in the other. (*HINT – If you want a nuke mage keep the same spells in both hands its stronger)

Armor:
Theres a few types of armor ranging from rags through to dragon bone. As a *HINT – Level smithing as high as soon as pos you need lvl100 smithing to make dragon bone armor.

Well theres a lot more that I could tell you and a lot more I need to cover but I aint gonna tell ya :P lol. Lets see as a ending note I will tell you this; MOBS:
Dragons, Bears, Undead, Vampires, Wolfs, Giants, Ghosts AND A WHOLE LOT MORE...... I would have given this an excellent rating but I really don't like the level system to much… Other than that well worth the purchace I've been playing for well over 80hrs and I still aint even half way through yet (To much fun kiling giants and dragons lol). So in short BUY THE GAME KILL LOTS OF STUFF AND HAVE A LOT OF FUN DOIN IT :D

5 stars "Worth all the hype"

Skyrim takes everything that was great about Oblivion and makes it better, while fixing many of the issues with the previous game. The levelling system is much improved (although still open to exploitation) and the people no longer look like wax dolls. Highly recommended

5 stars "One Amazing Game"

After 8 months of playing Skyrim on and off I have finally finished the entire game.

Yes there has been a few bugs, glitches and lag. Most of which has been fixed with patches.

But no one could deny the visual and epic brilliance of this game.

1 main storyline – The Dragonborn.

Sub storylines – The Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, The Civil War.

300 side quests

Over 100 locations to explore and enemies to kill in a huge open world.

Make different kinds of potions, armor and weapons that can help you in combat.

You decide what race and character you want to play as. Use magic, bows, one handed swords, two handed axes, or just dual wield.

I paid full price for this game on release and it was money well spent.

Review by IGN
“…one of the most fully-realized, easily enjoyable, and utterly engrossing role-playing games ever made…it's difficult to ever feel completely satisfied with a play session of Skyrim. There's always one more pressing quest, one more unexplored tract of land, one more skill to increase, one more butterfly to catch. It's a mesmerizing game that draws you into an finely crafted fictional space packed with content that consistently surprises. The changes made since Oblivion are many, and result in a more focused and sensible style of play, where the effects of every decision are easily seen. Featuring the same kind of thrilling freedom of choice The Elder Scrolls series is known for along with beautiful visuals and a stirring soundtrack, playing Skyrim is a rare kind of intensely personal, deeply rewarding experience, and one of the best role-playing games yet produced.”

IGN RATINGS FOR THE ELDER SCROLLS V: SKYRIM (PS3)

An elegant menu system and a huge amount of story content to dig into. Bugs and stability issues do exist, however.

An incredible soundtrack and great sound design help make Skyrim feel like a real place.
9.5 Gameplay
Though the up-close weapon combat is still awkward, customizing your character and conquering all Skyrim's challenges is consistently satisfying.
