5 stars "Fantastic Game!"

Ys Seven is the latest installment in the very long running Ys series. This was my first time playing an Ys game and I didn't know what to expect. I was not disappointed with what I found.
The story is like any other Ys game where Adol and Dogi arrive in some new land and get involved in a journey to save the world. It sounds pretty generic but it has an excellent cast of characters and plenty of twists in the story.
Gameplay wise Ys is an action RPG similar to Zelda. You see monsters on the screen and you fight them in real time without shifting to another battle screen a la Tales. What makes this Ys game unique from the other games is the party system. Adol is now joined by other people who fight with him. As well as having a party Seven also has skills. Each character can set 4 skills and each also has an extra skill, bascilly a limit break. While normal monsters are easy, boss battles are fun and challenging and definately the highlight of the game.
I got the premium version and I have to say it is worth the extra cash. You get a cool cloth map, an artbook with amazing art and the best goodie is the 27 track cd. The music in this game is AMAZING so the premium edition is worth it just for the cd. Anyway if you are at all interested in trying an Ys game buy this game. As for me I am eagealy waiting for xseed to release Oath in Felghana in November.
