Okami depicts a stark world devoid of colour that the player must return to its natural state. In Okami colour represents the life blood of the land and sucking this life are supernatural monsters that inhabit the surrounding areas
Features:
nothing short of breath taking, capcom at its best here ladies and gentlemen
The artwork in this game is just brilliant but what got me hooked onto this game was really the brush techniques (which is something unique and not found in other titles) as well as the floral finishers.
the only downpoint about this game is that about halfway through – it gets rather easy, mainly because you hardly ever run out of ink and consumables are cheap to get.
All in all – 5 stars from me
This game is amazing, what can I say. The graphics are wonderful, the story is fantastic, the sound is very good though it could have done with some voice acting instead of the squeaking sound that it had to signify a person talking.
If you only buy one game for the PS2 make this the one you buy. Its a real time battle system, in fact when you are fighting you are able to pause the battle and draw you attack on the bad guys, you can slash them, draw a bomb and blow them up etc.
This game also has lots of mini games and missions, and tons of replay value.
The one fault with the game is that the battles were to easy, I didnt die once in the 2 times I have played though.
A truly excellent game, Okami's art and gameplay form solid base for a detailed world, a gripping story, and engaging characters. It's easy to play, with a lot of details that beginners don't need to understand, but which add to the experience as the player becomes more familiar with the game. You can play through it fairly quickly, but if you do you'll miss out on a lot of the details that make Okami's world an interesting place to be. Exploration is the key. I'm currently half way through my second replay; the game makes a replay truly worthwhile, for the details and secrets you missed the first time through; there are also differences the second time. It's hard to fault in any significant way. Don't miss it, Clover Studio is no more, this is all you'll get.
I've never seen anything quite like this, imagine a game where you come across a wide river with no way across – the usual mode of thought is to look for a bridge, or way to make a bridge right? Well, in Okami, you press a button which makes your screen turn a different colour – and use your controller to paint a bridge… release the button and voila, a bridge appears – continue on…!
Okami is full of life, colour and amazing art design (combat works by freezing the game and using your “brush” to slice through enemies, you can even chop down trees and random scenery)
It's a magical place to be and certainly a game that – while may not be to everyone's taste – is definitely a unique experience, highly recommended for teen & adult alike
