Saw V
In the fifth installment of the Saw franchise, Hoffman is seemingly the last person alive to carry on the Jigsaw legacy. But when his secret is threatened, Hoffman must go on the hunt to eliminate all loose ends.
Seth Baxter (Joris Jarsky), a convicted murderer who was released early from prison on a technicality, is chained to a table beneath a pendulum blade. A videotaped message informs him that in order to survive, he must crush his hands by putting them into two presses and pushing the buttons inside.
Even though he does so, the pendulum swings down and slices him in half. The fact that the trap was inescapable marks it as a creation of someone other than Jigsaw (Tobin Bell).
Critic Reviews:
- "There's heartwarming cooperation and redemption, but also vicious backstabbing, and it makes for the best murder-house dynamic in the franchise. " – Jordan Crucchiola
- " Yes, it's more of the same. But if you've been ‘Saw’-ing away for the last four years, why not take in ‘Saw V?’ " – Linda Cook
- " The Saw franchise continues to provide at least one decent horror film to look forward to at Halloween. " – Kevin A. Ranson
