Dame Lynley Dodd is New Zealand's best known author and illustrator of children's books. Her career was launched in 1973 with the publication of My Cat Likes to Hide in Boxes, which she collaborated on with cousin Eve Sutton. Other picture books soon followed and in 1983 the world famous Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy was launched. Hairy Maclary's success placed Dodd in the international spotlight and the Hairy Maclary and Friends series is today one of the world's most successful series of picture books. Author Biography

Finlay Macdonald has worked as a journalist, editor, publisher and broadcaster in New Zealand since 1986. He was editor of the New Zealand Listener from 1998 to 2003, commissioning editor at Penguin New Zealand from 2003 to 2005 and a weekly columnist for the Sunday Star-Times 2003 to 2011. He continues to work as a writer and broadcaster, and lives in Auckland with his wife and two children, thanks to whom he can still recite Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy from memory.
