This collection looks at the state of the language since the Act, how the language is faring in education, media, texts and communities and what the future aspirations for the language are.

Author Biography:

Dr Rawinia Higgins (Tuhoe) is an Associate Professor at Te Kawa a Maui, Victoria University of Wellington. She and Dr Poia Rewi are the principal investigators on Te Kura Roa, a three-year study of the value of the Maori language. Dr Poia Rewi (Tuhoe, Ngati Manawa, Te Arawa) is an Associate Professor at Te Tumu, University of Otago, and his research interests include te reo and tikanga Maori, Maori oratory and Maori history.
