Not the epic of Hero of the Rails, but faster moving than Misty Island Rescue. Another great Thomas story with the added bonus of a Fire Engine that goes on the road and rails. Excellent bonus features that includes a simple explanation of how steam and diesel engines work.
Day of the Diesels is a one hour long Thomas movie, done using a reasonable quality CGI. The storyline is easy to follow, and it introduces a few new characters.
The DVD also comes with two short (2–5 mins) features talking about the difference between steam engines and diesel engines, and two music videos (‘Day of the Diesels’ and ‘Hear the Engines Coming’.)
My little boy has watched it over a dozen times already, and requests it every chance he gets. He'd give it 5 stars.
Thomas & Friends: Day of the Diesels
A new engine, Belle, arrives on the Island of Sodor and The Fat Controller chooses Thomas to show her around. Percy is worried that she will replace him as Thomas’ best friend. The diesel engines trick Percy into luring Thomas to the Dieselworks, where they keep him prisoner! Realising his mistake, Percy and the other engines try to rescue their friend and eventually discover why the Diesels have been played such a naughty trick.
