This movie is in Spanish with English subtitles but don't let that put you off. I hadn't realised it but there isn't a lot of speaking in the film so it is really easy to follow. The film doesn't need a lot of speaking parts to really work – in fact the lack of words is actually why it is so good.

Description

Timecrimes

A TRIP BACK IN TIME…FROM PRESENT TO CRIME.

What happens when you accidentally travel back in time by just one hour?

Hector (Karra Elejalde) is relaxing on a lawn chair outside of his new country home, surveying the nearby hillside through a pair of binoculars, when he catches sight of what appears to be a nude woman amidst the trees.

Hiking up to investigate, he is attacked by a sinister figure whose head is wrapped in a grotesque, pink bandage. Fleeing in terror, he takes refuge in a laboratory atop the hill, where a lone attendant ushers him in to a peculiar scientific contraption.

He emerges what seems to be moments later, only to find that he has travelled back hours in time, setting in motion a brain-twisting, horrifying chain of events.

Critic Reviews:

  • " If you like the trickster films of Christopher Nolan (Memento, The Prestige), chances are you'll like Timecrimes. " – Kelly Jane Torrance
  • " Hector's insane time-travel journey is an excellent example of high-concept sci-fi. " – Mike Edwards
  • " Watching “Timecrimes” is like stumbling in a pitch-black haunted house. Hitting walls where paths should be is fun, and time-travel tropes of choice versus fate are inventively goosed. Even with five minutes left, it could conclude in any number of ways. " – Nick Rogers
