5 stars "And you thought Arkham Asylum was good"

Definitely deserves, as was Arkham Asylum in being Game of the Year.

This game is awesome as it builds on its predecessor, with more baddies, more missions and more gadgets.

5 stars "Bat-Perfection"

Batman has been my best friend's hero since he was a kid and when he got this game he wouldn't stop talking about it; it sounded awesome and despite not knowing much about the Batman world, I got it. And he was absolutely right.
As a sequel to Arkham Asylum, it picks up from there but also brings with it a new and enthralling story, with optional side missions and of course The Riddler's revenge, though much more entertaining to complete as instead of simple trophies to find, puzzles must be figured out to retrieve them.
Arkham City is a visual masterpiece and your domain. (You can also see Gotham and though it is inaccessible, the detail of it despite this is amazing.)
You can run across rooftops, glide, grapnel, hitch a ride on a helicopter and dive bomb unsuspecting thugs. Detective Mode is back and better than ever.
The combat system from Asylum has been updated. It is smoother, with more quickfire gadgets, added moves to evade and take on more thugs at once, it is as fun on its own without the storyline, which brings me to the other additions to the game.
Like Arkham Asylum, there is Combat and Predator Challenges under the name of Riddler's Revenge. As well as that, there are Campaigns you can do, three challenges one after another.
Then there is my favourite 'Item Opportunist’. Catwoman is a playable character in Arkham City through DLC, and has her own storyline linear to Batman's. It is an absolute pleasure to swing through the city and race up the sides of buildings, perch on signs and lamp posts waiting for a thug to pounce on.
It is best to add this DLC before starting the game as she is a crucial part to the beginning of the game. With that said, I think it is a good time to go into the other DLC content.
In the Challenges and Campaigns you can play as not just Batman and Catwoman, but Robin and Nightwing too, with different costumes as well. That is something I love, it is a game you do not want to end and playing as these characters and learning their fighting style and how to use their gadgets is extremely fun :)
Harley Quinn's Revenge is a fantastic add on to the end of the game, playing as Robin in a story scenario was a treat!
The Voice Acting of Kevin Conroy(Batman/Bruce Wayne) and Mark Hamil(The Joker) is flawless as always, and Grey DeLisle voiced the sultry and sexy Catwoman perfectly.
Also, there are many easter eggs hidden all over waiting for you to find them :)
All in all, I would recommend it over any other game. There is a reason it has won 11 awards(many being types of Game Of The Year), nominated dozens more and is one of the most acclaimed games ever made. The only way you can really find out why is to play it, so what are you waiting for--

Description

Batman: Arkham City is one of the highest reviewed titles of 2011 and with the release of the Batman: Arkham City Game of the Year Edition, fans can extend the multi-award winning experience as the Dark Knight with Harley Quinn’s Revenge, the final chapter in Batman: Arkham City that adds more than two hours of original gameplay to the critically-acclaimed interactive title. Also included on disc will be all five previously released downloadable content (DLC) packs.

The Harley Quinn’s Revenge mission sends players back into Arkham City to face their final challenge as they interchange between playing as both Batman and Robin. Gamers must utilise each of the characters' unique combat and investigative skills to uncover Harley's vengeful plan and shut the gates on the urban mega-prison forever. In addition to experiencing a new storyline, fans can explore new environments and face-off against Harley’s all new gang of thugs.

The DLC included on disc includes the Catwoman Pack, Nightwing Bundle Pack, Robin Bundle Pack, Challenge Map Pack and Arkham City Skins Pack.

All told, Batman: Arkham City Game of the Year Edition packages new gameplay content, seven maps, three playable characters, and 12 skins beyond the original retail release:

  • Maps: Wayne Manor, Main Hall, Freight Train, Black Mask, The Joker’s Carnival, Iceberg Long, and Batcave
  • Playable Characters: Catwoman, Robin and Nightwing
  • Skins: 1970s Batsuit, Year One Batman, The Dark Knight Returns, Earth One Batman, Batman Beyond Batman, Animated Batman, Sinestro Corps Batman, Long Halloween Catwoman, Animated Catwoman, Animated Robin, Red Robin and Animated Nightwing

Batman: Arkham City builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum, sending players flying through the expansive Arkham City – five times larger than the game world in Batman: Arkham Asylum – the new maximum security “home” for all of Gotham City’s thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds. Featuring an incredible Rogues Gallery of Gotham City’s most dangerous criminals including Catwoman, The Joker, The Riddler, Two-Face, Harley Quinn, The Penguin, Mr. Freeze and many others, the game allows players to genuinely experience what it feels like to be The Dark Knight delivering justice on the streets of Gotham City.
