Review by IGN
A great amount of love and care went into creating Halo Anniversary, and the new graphics engine, while not perfect, is an excellent addition to bring Halo players who missed out on the original ten years ago up to speed. Halo Anniversary’s campaign shortcomings are pretty apparent, but many of the elements that made the original Halo so great are here, from the great story to the tight combat and well-balanced weapons. If you can approach the experience with an open mind and are willing to take a few frustrating old-school design choices, and you’re fine with a ‘best of’ map pack versus a full redo, then this is a great way to bide the time before Halo 4. 8/10

IGN RATINGS FOR HALO: COMBAT EVOLVED ANNIVERSARY (X360)
8.5 Presentation
Halo has an awesome story, introducing gamers for the first time to characters like the Master Chief and Cortana and launching a beloved franchise on a great note.
8.0 Graphics
The new engine is pretty solid, but doesn’t look quite as good as many modern shooters, even Halo: Reach. However, as an HD remake, this is definitely a cut above most.
8.5 Sound
The timeless Halo soundtrack is here in great form in both original and re-arranged versions, and the voice work is well done.
8.0 Gameplay
The solid weapon balance and pacing return, but there are some frustrating issues with level layouts and navigation that make getting through the stages an occasionally frustrating experience.
8.0 Lasting Appeal
The campaign is pretty short, but the inclusion of online co-op gives you more reason to go back to it. The multiplayer is a blast, but will feel familiar to those who've played Reach exhaustively.
8.0

5 stars "2001 is HERE!"

Those were the days, kicking back on the couch with your best mates with coke and chips on the table. Smart remarks to one another on who was going to win the next firefight. Of course, you teamed up with the guy beside you, and, most of us screened looked.

With all these memories coming back, I am highly anticipating the release of CE Anniversary. Time to take on my old friends and see who will come out on top. With the New and Old look integrated I will use this for half the time I play. Switching back to the old graphics to bring me back those memories.

I recommend this for anyone who was there from the start, all the way through to Reach. And even those CoD and Battlefield guys.

Goodluck on the battlefield.

5 stars "Can anyone say nostalgia-"

Halo: Anniversary is most definitely a game to buy this Spring for all gamers, particularly the old Halo veterans. With the fact that the gameplay is remained untouched (heck, with classic mode, you're experiencing the same game from 2001) although this time with the additions of achievements and a new co-op multiplayer system to make it all the better.

If you're a new player, now's your chance to travel back in time to discover how the extremely popular Halo series truly started out so that you may have a greater understanding of how the concept of Halo initiated. On the other side, if you're a Halo veteran (or just an average Halo player), you will undoubtedly enjoy this nostalgic experience from 10 years ago.

In addition to these wonderful factors, with a price this low, there's virtually no reason whatsoever for you to not buy this game.

After 10 years of living the game, this is going to be so Awesome, for the new guys on the block, this is where it all started and you are very privileged to go back 10 years and play with today's advancements.

Replaying the original after 10 years is just out there & the new version will be for the seasoned players something very special.

Just received the Halo Reach update last night, so get ready for the new Reach Betta Engine to test out all the new online maps coming our ways, so get online and have some fun!

2 stars "Add bloom lose atmosphere"

In another desperate gambit to convince Halo fans that 343 are real halo and halo 4 will not be an overwrought mistake comes halo Anniversary.
The gist of this is simple. Replace halo with … Halo. What could go wrong-

Well 343 can go wrong, let us begin with them messing with the cut-scenes, doing silly things like removing commander Keyes' pipe because… Why- and ending with adding in a number of terminals which give you plot spoilers.
The levels have all been remade to current out of date graphical standards and redressed too much so that you lose much of the atmosphere, in particular when on your way to follow a doomed marine expedition into a grim foggy hell hole and finally meet the flood. Or should I say were. Now the map looks like something from James Cameron's Avatar. Prettier yes, but now lacking in atmosphere completely.
Were Halo:CE's graphics out of date- yes, yes they were, but then they were out of date when the game first came out, but nobody seemed to care then, why should we care now- If you have Original halo CE then don't bother, unless you care about the multiplayer, and if you do… Buy Halo Reach the multiplayer engine is EXACTLY the same.
