Description

Section 8 is a large-scale, futuristic first person shooter that brings strategy and tactics to the first-person shooter genre in a game where players can modify the battlefield on the fly.

The game's name refers to the super elite squad of powered armor infantry that serve as the focus of the single-player content. The squad’s nickname is because of its penchant for taking on suicide missions that no one else will tackle.

Features:

  • Play in Single Player Campaign, Online Multiplayer, or Instant Action on all of the multiplayer maps against a robust and competitive AI
  • No more classes, completely customize the Loadouts of weapons, gear, and passive module upgrades for your powered armor suit
  • Burn-In Spawning deploys from dropships 15,000 feet above the battlefield, and choose anywhere on the map to land
  • Dynamic Combat Missions (DCMs) offer a robust player-driven objective system, allowing for dynamically generated missions during the course of combat
  • Vehicle and Deployable Requisition can be delivered anywhere on the map

3 stars "Interesting, futuristic decent shooter."
For a shooter, it's definitely got unique features, mostly due to the futuristic time period and the way it portrays that. It's missing any split-screen multiplayer, both versus and co-op (but so are most games these days =/ ). Personally I thought it was good, definitely decent.

5 stars "Battlefield: Vietnam….. from THE FUTURE"
Yes that's right, Section 8 brings back all my memories from Battlefield: Vietnam with some interesting twists. Basically all the main gameplay is in the Instant Battles and Multiplayer Battles. Section 8, in place of a tutorial, has a short story-mode that eases the player into the game. Key differences to the Battlefield Series that one should take not of:
1) It's in the future
2) Like in Halo you have an energy shield, and mega armour….. that and you're in the future.
3) No aircraft, tanks and mechs instead.
4) Customizable loadouts, main and side weapons, armour and shield buffs, and even proficiency upgrades. Thousands of combinations.
5) Implemented AI that are actually smart on ALL difficulties.
Though the game looks fun to play singleplayer, the best experiences come from playing multiplayer through System Link or XBox Live.
I would highly recommend that you buy this game.heck buy two copies so your friends can play too.

2 stars "Trying to copy halo, average job done"
I believe the creators of this game were trying to get into Halo's market, with some really nice improvements, such as the jetpacks, and really cool vehicles and deployables.

There is just something about the game that just doesn't do it for me, i have it on 360 and pc, and they both seem to miss something.

Im not sure if its the games engine, but the gameplay seems strange in some way.

Also another downpoint is that it does not have local multiplayer, it has online an system link multiplayer, but not multiplayer on the one console, which would have greatly increased its replay value for me.

Overall its alright, the storyline is rather cliched, i played it for a day and haven't played it since (finished the storyline and started multiplayer)

3 stars "Falls Short"
It's a good shooter but never quite feels great.

The sensitivity is weird. It just didn't feel as natural as other games like Gears of War, or Halo 3. I can't quite put my finger on it, I always seemed to be fighting the controller to look where I wanted.

As for the gameplay, it was fun but I felt like it needed more development time. The focus definitely seems to be on online play, but if like me you're after a single player shooter then this doesn't really hit the mark. The campaign is short and feels like a long training level so you have some experience at the game before jumping online.
