Description

Herman lives in a labour camp. It is 1942, and the Nazis have made him a prisoner. He is forced to work long hours and his only food is watery soup. Soon he loses the will to go on. Then she appears. The girl on the other side of the fence. An angel girl, bearing an apple for him every day, giving him strength and hope. The war ends and Herman goes to England and then New York. Years pass. One evening, he's invited out on a double date. The girl is Roma, a nurse. She tells him of her childhood in Germany and the boy in a camp there who she gave apples to. Herman and Roma have found each other again after many years and long journeys. This book is based on a true story.
