My desk is quite thin (about 8mm) and the clamp couldn't be screwed that high to it so I had to add some cardboard as padding, other than that, this is very nice and stable, cheers

"Practically Useless"

If you have an extremely light weight microphone, this boom arm might work for you. For any of my microphones, the arm just wont keep them up. The spring tension in the arm is too weak and the friction in the joints can't be tightened enough to overcome the weak spring tension. Therefore, any microphone that weighs more than a few grams is too much for this arm. Studio condenser mic? Not a chance! So yeah, I bought two of these and they are not fit for purpose.

"Solid arm, well made serves it's purpose"

The arm appears the same as the Blue Compass, and while I haven't used that one, I can say that the Brateck arm is solidly made with a nice finish. It can hold a Rode NT1/1a (around 0.5–0.8kg with mounts) ok as long as your leaving it alone, touch it and it'll start to sag, the locks on the joints are a little weak when it's extended over monitors, but it will hold, might just need to be tightened higher than you want it and pulled down while tightening to correct spot as the spring type system in this isn't enough to passively hold the upper arm out and up and has to be tightened at the hinges.

"Really good"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Very solid microphone arm, tested beyond the 1kg ‘limit’ and still held up fine, although most microphones sit around 500 grams. Had no problem with my Roccat Torch Mic which is even lighter at 340 grams. Takes a bit of playing around to get the tension right, there's a screw at the base for main tension then adjustment knobs at each bend.

Suspect negative feedback below was not using all adjustment points.

Fantastic mic arm, the clamp is extremely sturdy and you can lock the arm in whatever position needed. Holds heavy microphones without issue.
