"What happened to disc 1"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

If you have bought this you may be wondering what happened to disc 1 as when you play disc 1 the menu shows it as disc 2! This 6 disc set is a combination of discs 2, 3 and 4 of the first half of the series (1.0) and discs 1, 2 and 3 of the second half (1.5) of the series. This set does contain the SyFy Pilot Episode, so what is on the missing disc- The 4 disc version of the first half of the series also included the unaired, unedited extended pilot which was a few minutes longer and that is what is missing from this collection.

"A thrill to see"

If you have seen Battlestar Galactica then this is for you. It is great to see how the cylons on the colonies were created. It provides great backstories to what happens in BSG.

A great pre BG series, story line cut to short with a rushed end when the series was cancelled. Had so much potential.

"Pre-Battlestar Galactica"
2 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Caprica is set pre-Cylon war. If you have not seen Battlestar Galactica then watch this first! It follows the humans who design the first Cylons and the people who sew the seeds for the future Cylon war. Remember; this has all happened before and it will happen again.

Unfortunately for me, after watching the 2009 Battlestar Galactica full series, I think my expectations of the graphics and acting is too high…

HOWEVER if you have not watched Battlestar Galactics (the 2009 version) then I would recommend you watch this. They tried. For a few episodes you can get caught up in the story. Unfortunately, if you have watched Battlestar Galactica this leaves something to be desired. The story line is somewhat lacking and the ending a bit dis-heartening.

"Unsung hero scifi series" Purchased on Mighty Ape

I saw a couple of episodes of Caprica on TV when it screened here – must have been a bout 1/2 way through – and hated it…don't even think I watched it past the first few ad breaks…

This is one of those series that you need to watch (and pay attention) from the very beginning. If you haven't endured all four seasons of the rethought BSG series, don't worry, all you need to watch to set the scene for Caprica is the pilot to the BSG series…

It is a single story arc covering 18 episodes that shows how the Cylons were originally developed and hints towards how the Human-Cylon War started. It is very subtle in how it does this and leaves a lot to viewers' imaginations so if are the sort of viewer that needs everything all laid out and then bludgeoned into you, then Caprica is probably not for you…

I liked the characters and how the were developed and interacted but IMHO the whole adama connection was unnecessary and didn't do anything for the story line for Caprica or the BSG series (either of them) – in fact this is the only unsatisfying element in the whole story…

There's a good blend of scifi tech and normal ‘life’ i.e. Contemporary (as we understand it) tech and the 50s themes add a nice dash of noir to the environment…I also love the use of Citroens as contemporary cars to get away from modern US vehicles…

All in all, I have this as a must watch and I suspect that repeat viewings will add even more to the story line…

"Reasonable human-interest Sci-Fi watch"
3 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

In the original 80s BSG, the Cylons were created by an alien race (you'd see them on the base ships sometimes) so this is a re-imagining of the Cylons, giving them human rather than Alien origins. It appears to be a human-interest drama written by trendy-lefties with a sci-fi thread running through it. There are enough Machiavellian twists and turns to keep it interesting. The V-world has hints of The Matrix but doesn't turn into a crapfest like the 2nd & 3rd Matrix movies did. NOTE: This series contains references to, and scenes of, murder, sex and drug use so is NOT suitable family viewing. If you don't mind that, then it is a reasonably entertaining series.

"Awesome"

Brilliant TV Show well worth watching if u want to know abit of back story if watching battlestar Galactica s1 e1 opens abit randomly and u want abit of back story this is the tv show to watch only 18 episodes which is alittle disappointing but still an all round awesome TV Show

"A prequel I wish had never ended!"
5 stars"

This Series was absolute gold! It gave a excellent back story to Battlestar Galactica and could have been so much more if it hadn't been cut so short. I do like how they manged to conclude this chapter but I hope there is a revival for another instrument sometime in the near future(maybe a new twist to the BSG series)…
